Normally harvest starts around July 10th, this year the 15th or so. The Walla Walla Sweet Onion Harvest started last weekend and supposedly it's a very good crop.
Best sweet onion there is.

I am obligated to point out Kansas is the 7th flattest state in the US after Florida, Illinois, North Dakota, Louisiana, Minnesota and Delaware. Florida's highest point is 345' above sea level. On a side note, there would need to be a 34,000' mountain in western KS for it to not be flatter than a pancake.

If I had been able to make a different choice as to place to retire would have been ID or WA states, CO is too politically correct for me but still really pretty, OR was OK but not as welcoming as WA, but will always have a love spot deep inside for the greater NW US.

Hmm. I've never been to Florida or North Dakota, but I've been to Kansas (and all the others) and I'd rank it a hell of a lot flatter than Illinois. Northwest and Southern Illinois are very hilly and pretty rugged country.

How can Iowa and Nebraska not be on their list?

The road we were on leads up to some bigger dryland wheat farms, so the county keeps it up well. Behind us is The BNSF mainline from Pasco to Spokane Wa. When they are running from the left to the right (south) its a good pull with an A+ sound show.

Personally I like the town and area around Ralston RZ. Nice and quite. If I won a huge lotto I would buy the town burn it down and start over. And build a truck tractor museum.:)

I dunno if I would burn the whole place down, there are some pretty nice old houses there. I kinda like the one built on top of the old store.
There sure are a lot of those old towns that could be a good "lotto retirement" place. Not much in the way of local jobs, but a really nice place to live with cheap housing. In 1993 I looked at a 3 story Victorian house in Lind on a lot and a half with a good sized modern garage... $34K. But in the basement it still had a coal fired heating furnace, shovel included. I think the nearest fuel dealer that still supplied coal was in Kennewick at that time.

Little service call this morning . Buddy Wayne got hit by DOT yesterday with a grocery list of issues . None of them put the rig in any danger .

What got him pulled over was a binder chain around the trailer dolly brace struts . What happened is he caught some rail road tracks pulling into a job site . Tweaked the landing gear a little & popped the diagonal brace off at the aluminum bracket on the trailer frame . So to get home he chained the brace rod up to the trailer .

He needed to leave with the truck today at 3:00 pm ....

Told him I could not get it done in time to where DOT would pass the repair work on the landing gear .

He said OK ... I'll go ahead & haul this load as it is and bring the rig over Friday & fix the landing gear . I said " Cool ! "

Buddy Wayne is an old school trucker . Turned 81 last month .

Funny part was he hollered at me as I was leaving . Walked up to the vehicle & said ..... " If you ever catch your boy playing with toy trucks in the sand box make sure to tan his hide good so he wont grow up to be a truck driver " . LOL ! :D

Bought a set of Eaton 404 rear drives 3:70 ratio on Freightliner {Air Liner} air ride suspension to go under that B75. Plus a possible RTOO 12515 spd transmission.
And I have a BCIV CPL 676 400 which I can make a BCIII out of for full flow cooling. When I'm done I'm hoping I end up with something like this picture I drew
some ten years ago.

That'll be a gorgeous truck when your done TS.

Just a question, what's the advantage of making the BC IV into a BC III? I don't know squat about the BC series engines so I'm just looking to learn something.

That would be awesome. I’ve been searching for a set of 46 or 52k rears on Neway, Daytons, to stick under the 63 Acar. Also contemplating a repower replacing the 250 with a 400 or perhaps a build up much like Bruce does on the east coast :)
