Drop center wheels all around it looks like too. That is a bonus.
Yep, My old 9500 was a 1978 model and had 10.00x20 inch rubber on spoke wheels, I did convert the steer axle to Budd wheels with 22,5's on aluminum. Boy that rode so much better.

My only surviving picture of our 1968 9500 Series Jimmy is on page 7 of this thread, post 136. Trained my shifting arm on that 68 Jimmy and on a old 1959 Henderson tractor with a 190 Cummins and an air starter. I recently heard it had a wrecker body stuck on it and is setting in the woods not far from here. I am going to go try to find it when the weather improves.

Nothin real exciting. JLG boomlift that needed a couple tires pulled off. Rather than try to jack in soft ground we took the wrecker for a spin.

It's a slick old truck. Before it was a wrecker it carried a mixer. I don't recall the name of the concrete company but it was owned by the Gambino family.....how many pairs of concrete shoes you reckon it poured lol

Hard to believe that JLG would lift the front wheels like that. I know the lifts are heavy, but...

Part of it was the way we had the counterweight swung. When I put the wheels back on I had it sitting different and it wasn't near as heavy.

That's always been a problem with short wheel base tow trucks very little leverage. Our tow at 300" with one of our tractors in tow from the rear axles leaves only 8,400 on the steers
with full tanks of fuel. It weighs in at 27,000- right at 12,100 on the steer with full fuel tanks. It still steers good on ice though.

The Sunday before last I left for Bozeman Mt to pick up one of ours that broke an input shaft upon using the Jake. Towed one over brought the dead one back.
That's the 8th tow so far most were short only 200 miles round trip and one to Portland. So we spent the day cleaning her up between rigs coming in for repair.

I found an easy way to remove the plastic resin cover over the KW emblem-aka Bug. Soak it in a can of Napa/Mac's 6402 carb cleaner for 14 hours and pry it up
with a box knife and peel it right off. The chrome underneath will be like new, just mask it off and paint it. A new Bug cost about $140.00 .

I can't remember the brand name of that rear suspension on that 68 Pete you listed above but it's not Freightliner. Pete and Freightliner used that same suspension.
In the mid to late sixties Pete used aftermarket. I will check my shop books tomorrow and find the name.

I just remembered - New Way and it was crap. you couldn't keep it aligned the U-bolts would loosen
up or break. I don't think you can even get parts for it anymore.

Are the little clearance lights on the outer edge of the fenders factory? I've never seen them, but there's all kinds of things I've never seen before....

I seem to remember my 1974 Pete had them. That was before they put side markers in the headlight housings. Mine had the big single round Dietz headlamps with the "Eyebrow" marker/park lights and no side markers.
