How to load machine on trailer without picking up back of truck?

Other than blocking under the rear of trailer I can't keep the trailer from picking up the back of truck, am I missing something?

Unless you have fold down style ramps with stands built into them you will have to block the trailer

Agree, block the trailer. Also if this is a dove tail trailer, it can break the dove tail weld

My trailer does have the stands built into the ramps but when i get past the ramp hinge the ramps rotate up. I have been loading by driving forward onto trailer... perhaps i should back on?

Hadn't thought about breaking the dovetail weld... that would suck. Now that I'm thinking about it, if i welded an extension onto the stand which went past the hinge, the ramps couldn't rotate up. What ya'll think?

What are you loading and how long is the trailer? In most cases, enough weight usually gets towards the center of the trailer before it all gets loaded to prevent the end of the truck from actually lifting off the ground.

We still crib up the trailer with wood .... Have to replace the cribbing on a strict time line as the blocks get mashed & busted sometimes .

Wood is a renewable resource .... As long as it keeps growing we will use it .

It's a big trailer and a heavy skidsteer so the weight doesn't get over the wheels before the ramps lift.

Well, after seeing that pic maybe it's not so big. I think the trailer is 25' and the ctl is 10,000# but the point is the same... the machine is off the ramps before over center of wheels so the tongue wants to lift.

On some smaller trailers I set a jack stand under the back, two to the outside if the center is weak. Have seen some with pin on jacks or pin stands on the rear. Always chalk the trailer tires in vehicles that size.

just google images of trailer ramps, there's plenty of designs that go under the hing pin so the ramp won't push out under weight. You'll have to lower the ramps, back up, load, pull forward, raise ramps, but it beats the alternative.

Another thing that works good is a short chain welded to the ramp and hooked to the side of the trailer so it can't swing up

I will have to check that out and maybe weld some chain. Many people do not understand his situation as I would not have before I got in a tight spot. While loading a IHC 1066 and a 10' rotter tiller on a trailer like that I experienced a problem. The ramps which extend directly below the pins flipped up as the truck slid forward. Movement stopped when the trailer tail hit the ground. When I tried to pull forward weight was removed from the tail but not applied the the truck to prevent rolling down hill. Actually just a slight down grade but at the top of a good down hill. Also found the combination and angle touchy. Decided to just go for it as the weight transferred forward the truck would stop it. Then the front tractor tires wanted to become air born and run off the right side of the trailer. If I backed up the ramps would destroy rear panels on the tiller. Toys compared to td25c's stuff but lumber is cheep in comparison to accidents. Loading and unloading a 680CK on the same trailer is never a problem.

Aint no fun trying to load on a moving trailer .

Try to pick loading areas carefully , sometimes we can pull in to a job & unload in the customers driveway & others have to unload on the county road and track it in .

Brakes set on truck & trailer & pick out a fairly level spot if possible ....

Customer had a pretty nice blacktop drive on this move & did not want it " scuffed up " . Was able to pull in beside it & unload .

Trailer brakes are electric. Not sure how long they can stand it if you sprag the controller instead of the tires.

Wheel chocks when in doubt on the electric brake trailers when loading .

Ramp geometry. Alter the leg, the problem goes away.
