Additional "Comfort" features you have done to Cab?

Hey gentlemen; I've recently got appointed a seat in a new 2015- 40 ton Sumitomo Excavator, and ill likely be spending my entire winter inside this machine processing concrete with a bucket crusher, EXTEC screen plant and a toothed dirt bucket while possibly running a horizontal impact crusher at times as well. Here is my question; are there any of you that put in 10 to 12 hour days 5 to 6 days a week running a hoe? If so are there any little creature comforts you've done to modify the cab like adding sattelite radio, CB, tinting windows, iPad mounts and so on and so forth? Maybe you've done some really minor things that have helped you that you could share?
Really I'm just curious if any modifications you operators have done has made a positive impact on your work Day. And yes I can modify and do whatever I like to the hoe as the company I work for knows me well and trusts me mechanically. I recently added cb radio and it's been the best thing for helping drivers with load placements and instruction.

I like the idea of curtains for morning sun shading. I was thinking of tinting the top foot or so front window as it seems to be a blinder a lot of times when I can't reposition the house direction.

If you're not doing anything up high they are great. I have all four sides and a bunch of close pins to adjust as needed.

There are all sorts of mounting devices for iPad's and satellite radios on the market. How's the seat? Comfortable? I like to put seat covers on all my equipment.

Canvas is all the rage for equipment seats here at the moment.
Certainly durable but they tend to slide about a bit...and once they slide they seem to develop a memory of sorts.
For a little extra cost you can have something like these.

Working with a Deere 644E, I added a little window tint, 2 cig lighter power outlets, cup holder, cb radio, Ram suction cup mount to hold cell phone within charger range. Also there was no headliner and I know that in winter time it'll drip. Went to Jo-anne fabrics, bought some gray punched vinyl, some foam and from home depot, weldbond contact cement, made a super nice sound deadening headliner. I might add some other sound deadening mats as well.

Great stuff guys. Ive been thinking about getting a suction mount or two to free up some space in the OEM holders. Also I'm going to research some quality Bluetooth speaker systems to pair my phone to as the OEM radio is lacking any auxiliary ports. And it appears a few coat hangers for jackets and sweatshirts should hang nicely behind the operators seat so I won't have to make trips back to my truck for a change of clothes should I have to work outside the machine.

Oh one other thing; I would love to see some pictures of your cb setups in your machines! I just haven't squared away a perfect spot for my little Cobra25 although it fits nicely tucked away in the cubby behind the operators right arm rest .

Yeh I agree and I've installed one and it's night and day difference. The cb tone is usually so horribly high pitched that I can't stand to listen to it but with this Diesel brand speaker it's not so harsh on my ears when drivers start chatting and or the squelch is being finicky.

This is actually the post that made me sign up here. I have added an extra cup holder, an ipod full of audio books and an old mobile phone in a cradle that i use to google, weather reports ect as i work. I also use it to watch tv when I'm on a break since i work on my own a lot. I will be replacing the old phone with a tablet very soon and I'm also thinking of adding a cb but I'm not sure how popular they are in Scotland now.

I would also be interested in peoples pictures of their cabs.

That'd be a great addition. Our new 279D has an air ride seat and it's fantastic.

Satellite radio is very nice we have it in all our machines at work. Tinted windows, heated seat, holder for your phone, two way radio and sunshades are real good add ons for long days. We are usually in are machines 12 hours. Some of our newer machines have a heated seat and it makes it nice keep the air on the cool side and a nice warm backside haha!
