Hi All
Im not really in the market at the moment but thinking down the road of purchasing an 80 size excavator. I would probably not buy a new machine but for the sake of argument lets say the machine is new. Im not worried right now about the dealer support, warranty, or financing points. Im just curious to get everyones take on the performance, reliability, and resale values assuming the machine was owned for 5 years.
I havent ran too many different sizes of these machines but of the few i have ran i would say i like the takeuchi the best. They seem like the best of price and performance out there. I have also ran the cat 308 machines but didnt really care for those.... didnt seem like they had any power and the Deere machines seemed slower and was hard to fine finish things. Other than that i have never ran anything else... i would like to run a Komatsu pc88 they seem very very nice.

Do try a Komatsu before you decide on one. I have a mix of all of them and prefer the Komatsu's for overall performance, reliability and dealer support.

Do you think it has more power than the others? More precise? We would use this as more of a builders machine than a digging machine if that makes sense..,, So i would like whatever is the most fine tuned machine with the most power.

I can't say they have more power or precision than others, but just a good all around machine with excellent reliability.

From my little bit of research they are proud of these machines! Wow are they expensive..... Guess my thoughts go back to the Tak machine.

I've operated a wacker, john deere, volvo, and my takeuchi. I really like my tak for operating (different story for keeping it running), the volvo was good too. The wacker was absolutely awful, no power and really sloppy controls, the deere was ok but nothing fantastic.

I'm a huge CAT fan but recently purchased a Loaded up, brand new TAK TB290. love the TAK! it's going to be hard to beat this machine in Most every category and specification. Great machine. Demo each machine and see for yourself what works for you in regards to your needs, wants and wallet. Picking a local dealer and building a strong relationship is critical and relates directly to your level of happiness with any new machine. Good luck and remember, pictures or it didn't happen...All the best.
