No telling what someone has done in the lifespan of a machine. My Dresser was supposed to have a 15" shoe. Someone has replaced them with 16". The chain & sprocket are in the opinion of the dealer parts man, for a TD8G. On mine, this meant track scrubbed the hydraulic cylinders that angle the blade.
I have less experience with them. Those who have run both say a long track is much better as a grading dozer, but harder to turn. Wider tracks reduce ground pressure, but sometimes that isn't a good thing.
