I was working at a plantation this week. We had to add some rip rap to small areas along the banks. The one lake in the pic is 64 acres and the wind is always blowing one direction so they always have erosion problems. The other pics are of some ditching we are doing. It took almost an hour to walk from the rip rap site to where I am ditching.

Slick digging bucket LC! That trench looks good. Did you shoot it or just use the ol' eye and keep the water flowing?

I bet rip-rap is expensive up your way.

Thanks! I was pretty happy with the ditch and yes I did use the old eyeball. This is just to drain a dove field so nothing as nice as what Shimmy does. Yeah that is not a bad bucket for $2000. We bought it about 4 years ago for a ditching job that never came to be and this was the first time it was used.

To pick rip rap up at the Vulcan yard is $43.00 a ton plus tax so yes I think it is expensive. It is cheaper if you go to the quarry in Columbia but then you add 3 hours of trucking per load.

Finished up a few odds and ends this week. Cleared this little lot as well as filled it. Forgot to get finished pics.

Did a pool on Monday. Turned out pretty decent. I had to dig backwards so it was a pain. Had to finish on the deep end so it made it hard to get the last 2 corners since the pool is elevated and there was a block wall around it.





After the pool we started grinding a dump site. Some of the stuff has been piled up for almost 8 years so it is real dirty. The owner has 2 excavator and an ADT there to help separate.

Hi CM. That is a dump site from a local residential lot clearing guy. We do some demo jobs for him and we buy dirt from him also. He buys mulch from us and we are grinding his dump.

Thanks Oxbow. The guys that put the fill in this pool did a good job. They put it in in lifts and compacted it. The material was also good. It was sandy with a tiny bit of clay that really made it bind together.

Not sure if the pictures are going to come out in the right order but once I describe things it should be easy to figure.

We had to install 650 lft bike path this week. It was 6 feet of paving so 7 feet of base and 4 inches of FLBC. They are going to pave it on the 14th of this month.

On Thurs I moved into a new clearing job. The site is not the best. Lot of brush in areas and trash from steel to concrete and asphalt. Got started with the cutter and started clearing a deck for the logs.

Finally on Sat I did some work on the parking lot/shopping center job. Didn't really want to drive 1.5 hours each way to and from work on Sat.

I hear ya' buddy. Got a chicken shack coming up that's about 1.5 hours away, not looking forward to it but the guys that own them are my bread and butter.

Do ya'll install your own silt fencing or sub it out? If you sub it out what are you paying per FT? PM me if you don't want to post it online.

I have been spoiled recently with 15 to 20 minutes to work. This job will go on for about a month I guess by the time we log it, clear it and grind it. This is same as your chicken shack guys. We do a bunch of work for them and they take good care of us.

That dirt sure did look nice in the pool dig compared to what you usually dig in.

Looking good out there. Like the clearing and lowboy pics and I see the KW trying to get in the shot barely on one pic.

Missed this one. Appreciate the shout-out, LC. Back at ya. Going to have some dandies the next couple weeks. I have 9(!) waterholes to clean out. Rented a D6K to help. Partner gets to run it though. I'm the excavator guy.

Got some clearing pics this week. My camera broke so I am using my phone and it is a pain to get pics from it to my email then to a folder then onto here so I am not putting a ton of them on here.
