I can't see anyone purposely disconnecting high drive on a 40F. They were pretty slow with out it. :)

Could be that they were having issues with the mercury switch he located in the boom and decided to disconnect it rather than replace it? The switch on my boom seems to be acting strange this year, runs fast up to a much higher point than when coming down it does not go back to the faster mode until almost to the ground. I believe last year, it was pretty consistant at about 8 or 10 foot from the ground it would switch from high to low or vice versa.

I'm looking for a full wiring diagram for a 40f. The images I have seen on this site are to not clear enough to be useful. Thanks!

Hi, what brand of valves and controllers does your machine have? The diagrams are all slightly different for each one.

I believe they are the "Racine" valves, is that what you need to know? If not where would I find this information? Thanks again

Ken, check out post #31 on page 3 of this thread. It shows a picture of the different controllers. Let me know which one you have. I've got schematics specific to each valve/controller application that I can send you (better than what's in the manual)

Hey OFF, have you kept track of how many manuals you've sent out. It's been a bunch and I want to thank you for being so willing to help people out on the 40F's.

Thank you excavator!
I have no idea how many 40F manuals have been sent out. For sure more than 20, could be as high as 50. Willy has sent out a bunch as well. I'm amazed every time a new "F" series JLG shows up on the forum.

The good thing is, everybody on this site is very willing to jump in and help. That's what makes it such a great place. I'm having a blast and glad to be a part of it.

That's the part that gets me, I'm amazed there's still so many of the dang things still out there! There's a reason JLG doesn't have the manuals on their website, they expected them to be scrap iron by now, but apparently they still live in great numbers.

To Willie59, ... Hello, ..just joined the forum here, ..My father and I just purchased a JLG model 40F, for $2500, ..in great shape from a hospital here, ..problem I'm having is on the joystick for the drive/steer side, ..the stick sits in the middle of 4 micro switches, the stick itself is worn out, and have looked every where on the net to find a new one with no luck, ..the micro's work fine, ..its just that the spring that is on the shaft of the stick is broken, and the stick is bent and out of round where it makes contact, ..other than machining a new stick for the unit, ..not sure if you new of a supplier that still has these ,or where to get them from, ..I got some pics here of the unit, ..and joystick, broken spring,..ty, George042.jpg041.jpg036.jpg037.jpg038.jpg

Nice looking machine there George66! Welcome to the Heavy Equipment Forum.
Here's a link to the controller you're looking for.
It's made by Cutler/Hammer and the C/H part number is #10250T-451
JLG part #7003721

That's the only style of controller that has steer on the stick along with drive. If the link above is not what you have,
put up a picture of the controller/basket controls.
