Alright, going to pick up my 40F next week. Hey OFF, I'd like a copy of that manual please.

Hi hjm1216, shoot me a private message with your email address and I'll send you a copy of the 40F manuals.

Will do. As soon as I figure out how. "Reply with a PM" is not an option for me. I'll have to do some research and use the search feature.

Hey guy’s what’s shaking? I was in touch with JLG this week to try and find out what type of platform this is. I purchased it a few weeks back from a surplus dealer. JLG told me it was designed to be hung from a Boom Truck cable. There is no markings on the control panel or the basket. If anyone knows anyone with a Boom Truck who might be able to identify it let me know.

I want to use it on my 40F but I hate to pull it apart if someone can use it as is. I’ll post a couple of pictures of it.

Hey OFF,

Do you still have any Cutler-Hammer Joy Sticks?

I've got 1 left. That's the whole controller body and joy stick. If it's just the contact blocks you need they are
common items you should be able to pickup at almost any electrical supply store.

I have new micro switches (last year) in a new box but last summer the tip of the stick broke off and we welded on a little nub but it occasionally acts up so thought if you still had one I would swap it out and keep the old one for backup. What would you need for it?

That part number is officially dead acording to JLG, and they don't have a scrap of information left on it either.

There is a parts breakdown on page 5-30 of the service manual however.

Thanks again for the tips. Thats not good news on that part number but potentially good news on the repairs! We were down to our last two seals and put one on the drive end of the shaft installed it and of course the rear end at the brake started blowing fluid. We pulled it back out and replaced it and it appears to be holding (fingers crossed). We had a heck of a time figuring out how to get that on there without tearing one or both of those little seals but one of my guys may have stumbled on a little trick for others that find themselves with a leaky drive motor. He took a 3/4" socket which fit inside the high pressure seal snug but not super tight and heated it a little with a heat gun (on low, carefully) then worked it around in a circle multiple times then slid it right on the shaft without driving it on or tearing it. We'll drive it for a couple days and see if it holds then hopefully I can get new skins before I leave the entire rubber tread on the ground. About a 1/4 of it already fell off from the hydraulic fluid leaking on it, the only reason it's still upright the rears are foam filled. I'll keep you all posted.

OD1 or others...

I didn't read through all 62 pages of threads, but Willie59 is correct on Bestline Equipment..They are in my area and I use them all the time for boom lifts (anywhere from 40' to 120') on our jobs and job sites. I have a great relationship with them and are absolutely fabulous to work with. The Shippensburg spot isn't far from me (like maybe a 1/2hr)...The Shippensburg site, is more for where they have the older lifts that they keep to sell or for some storage of newer ones. Also, JLG themselves have executive offices in Shippensburg, Pa as well. If any of you need anything, let me know, and I can point you in the right direction as to who to get in touch with to help you out...

Hi guys. I just acquired a JLG40F. It's not a complete basket case, but it's gonna need a lot of TLC. It did actually unload itself from the trailer, which I consider to be quite an accomplishment. I've read the first 9 or 10 pages of this thread and I am thoroughly impressed with the information I'm sure must be contained in here. I'm eager to get started overhauling this beast. I've got a lot of reading to do from the beginning of this thread. Any advice you could give to get me out of the "starting gate" would be appreciated. Where to start - where to start. I think pics first....then a good steam cleaning will be in order to get all of the caked oil, grease and quarry dust off. Although it may be all that's holding it together.
