I have a question about a M&B P-16 that had its cab burn up in a fire.I am going to say sometime around 1984.The truck was only a few years old and was sent back to Pacific for repairs.We rebuilt it(New cab & paint)) and sent her back home.I think we had the engine sent out for inspection as well..Other than the smell(and cab)l the truck wasn't to bad.....If I could find my book I could tell you what truck it was....Does anyone have any info or stories about this incident .......Cory

At Nitinat we had burn up,I have picture of it coming back from the dump.Truck was 40-83 and driver was Donnie Wrght of Duncan.I will post when I learn. This may be a different truck to the one you remember diamondtguy.

It was maybe H22 from Eve River or maybe H123 from Cameron Division H22 was a conventional and H123 was a Preload

I can picture myself sitting on the back of it with no cab,and I remember working on it...My memory says conventional P-16 and Detroit powered...but I could be wrong......Cory

Hi HDX; Nice to see you have started posting pictures and indeed some great and interesting pics. Re post #675. Truck unit got #H40 but trailer got #V41? I thought trailers got #x numbers?
Do you know if Jim F. got the pics I mailed to him?

Hayesno1 Welcome back!!! When MacMillan & Bloedel started buying these Hayes trucks the trailer designation was changed to "X" The "V" painted on the trailer body simply meant that trailer was for vehicle# H41. The trailer number was actually either X122,X123 orX124. The three trucks built were H40 H41and H34 These trucks had consecutive serial numbers as did the three trailers that were part of the same order

HDX When you had posted about the flag pole being 225' long it sure made for a lot of questions in my mind of how it was done. Some really good pictures have answered the questions. A lot of hard work and engineering to make it happen, that is for sure. Sure glad you were able to post the pictures, thanks for taking time to put them up so we all can see them.

HdX What graeat pictures, we are so lucky someone took the time to take pictures of such events and record history . So many things have happen and were never recoreded and are losted when those who wittnessed it pass on . Thank you to those who took the pictures we have and share them with us.

I was part of a crew who hauled a 120 ft broomstick from bush to dump at Lake Cowichan. Lead truck had butt end on his truck bunk,rear truck had top end on his truck bunk.Leader was Jack Gundersen followed by Dan Wickham. Dan had to back up for 18 miles.I followed with lowbed and American loader to unload. What a chore. HDX would know how this is done and may have done it himself.

BLK PRINCE Yes I hauled the last wooden "A" frame for Coleman Dump I have pictures from Franklin with Johnny Miner backing up H229 and Gerry Edmonson going ahead H281 back in 1969 Will post those later but for now we will finish the Flagpole ones. 72 hayes Yes they had truck to truck radio's The move was done on a Saturday (no traffic) and Stan Dyke did the calling of what gears and what rpm's they were using and Bernard just kept in time to his calls. This bit of history was just too important to let slip by. This was basicly the same method that BCFP used for their Calgary Pole and the big Fir logs that went to Osaka Japan for the 1970 EXPO Pavillion also from Copper Canyon in 1969.
