There's pictures of that accident around here somewhere, probably the Logging Accident thread would he a safe bet. Main has had that 143, a 7230 and a 7280 sitting at T-Mars yard for a couple years at least. Apparently they're all for sale or rent.

First Madil 6 guyline tower

Here are a couple pics of the first WCB approved 6 guyline tower built by Madil. the family friend that took the pics told me of when he and Chuck Madil and some others were down on Chuck's yacht and drew up the idea/plans for the unit. who knew where it was to go from there, wow! It went to Stillwater BC.

I believe the 124 is going to Dargaville in Northland. I saw it a couple of months ago when it was just a chassis and a trackframe.

Here's a challange (fun one). I have 3 pictures here taken at Duke Point in the good old days. There are 2- 075 loaders, a 143 and an 044. I can tell from 2 of the pics that the blue 075 is for Interfor Cleagh Creek. the 143 is for Interfor as well but a different division. (Scott Cove maybe?). 075 for Western Forrest Products. But where? 044 No idea! It does have an extra fuel tank on the back end tho. No serial numbers, no date when pictures were taken. I took them but I loaded out so much stuff over the years after a while it all looked the same. Wish now I had taken lots and lots of pictures and kept track of numbers, dates etc. Here's a challenge for someone with build lists or knowledge of these machines to do some cross refrencing (when did this particular combination of of machines come together on the build list along with this group of customers) and tell us some history. Just to throw in another clue I'm pretty sure the 2 cars in the picture went into camp somewhere on the barge as well or at least to the north island. Maybe somebody recognizes them. They are pretty distinctive. Looking forward to whatever info is out there. Regards d.d.img011.jpgimg010.jpgimage.jpg

The WFP one came to Juene Landing and was the 1348 supper snorkel with Miron three section snorkel. I ran it from new 1988 until 2001 when they bought the super snorkel from Canfor which I still run.Several other operators ran the 48 until the swing bearing went in it and they scrapped it in 07 I think. The Interfor one and mine both had there snorkels put on in Port McNeill yard. Cleagh's was only a two section one. The order on the 48 got messed up some how and came with a wooden snorkel set up,which was cut off during the snorkel set up.No air con, or guyline package which we put both on during the summer shut down of 88 in the shop yard. Charlie was the Madill mechanic who did the guyline and air con install. And written on the swing bearing was a rude message to Charlie which I will not repeat here lol. When we put the a/c in they brought a new cab with all of it installed all ready ( My idea) and all he had to do was put in the compressor and hook up the lines an charge it. It also had American style controls in it .Separate Main and haulback flexair valves.

Thanks 075. I had a feeling you'd know something about the WFP loader. That gives a time frame when the picture was taken. Don't remember a rude message to Charlie but it doesn't surprise me. Certain people liked to razz him( in good fun of course). If he's not away hunting I expect I'll see him next Sat. at our mounthly retirees breakfast. I'll ask him if he remembers. He's a great guy and he and I did many jobs together. Learned a lot from him over the years. Hopefully we'll get some info on the other machines as well. Thanks again. d.d.

We got it in the end of April of 88. When the company bought the 144 several years earlier the flew both crews and foreman down to the factory. Showed them around and looked at the new yarder . They also took them out and wine and dined them every on got loaded and flew home the next day. When they ordered the 075 I got squat, just a burger a the Dalewood in McNeill when we put the snorkel on and the woods foreman ( Wayne Seaman) ate my fries on me .LOL

I well remember the Dalewood. Everbody there had to cook their own breakfast one morning when the restaurant staff had been partying the night before and didn't show up for work. The good old days! You got short changed. Seemed like every time I went on a delivery/start up and had a salesman tagging along they were handing out at least caps, sometimes jackets, keyrings or suspenders. At the very very least hardhat stickers. I've still got quite a collection of all that good stuff from way back when. At least you got a great machine out of it. Regards. d.d.
