You can go to http://www.belaztrucks.com/belaz-announces-450mt-truck/ and download the PDF and see the specifications of the truck.

I thought the machine is going to be big but not that big... It is 20 meters long, 8.20 meters high and almost 10 meters wide. What struck me most was its empty weight -360 tons. ( 110 tons more than the previous model). What makes it unique is the 4x4 and 8 wheels it has. You can definitely pull anything with a 360 ton 4x4 truck... Even the biggest bulldozers are like 200 tons lighter than this.

The truck is supposed to be assembled in 3 months time. The frame is ready you can see it here. The frame is 12 meters long, 2 meters high and 3 meters wide. It is so much more massive than Cat 797 frames which seem so slender compared to this one... Overall truck weight is 810 tons. Maximum speed 60 km/h. Engine volume is 130 liters (30% more than Cat 797F)

That's definitely a big rig! Looks like a true car squasher with all those dualies. I have driven the 797's and liked the mechanical drive aspect more so than the electric drive, but the B-450 with the proposed all wheel drive is really 4X4 action! Looking forward to seeing one in operation. :)

The one thing I don't understand is this : Wouldn't all this weight adding turn into diminishing returns at some point instead of efficiency(cost per ton)? I mean look at that truck... Its 110 tons heavier than a cat 797. Its total weight is 810 tons!!! Isn't the machine going to become much clumsier at this point? What about turning at 20 meters length of the machine? All of these add up and eventually we have a truck carrying 90 tons more but being 20% slower...

With the rising price of fuel it doest make sense to add over 100 tons of weight to haul 50 tons of payload thanks BIG D

Well this is not the case actually. Cat 797f being able to carry 400 tons is true but it is also true that the belaz truck will be able to carry 500 tons or 520... What we speak here is official data and for cat 797f it says 360 tons while for the belaz 450. Machine overload is another story

I agree with you!!! Don't you know any others trucks currently in development more than 363 metric tons?

Very nice view of the model. It looks so much bigger than the previous model... Also much more symmetrical and beautiful. Now we have to see how it performs.

G..G..G..Granville.........!! Fetch your cloth.
I hope those guys aren't standing right under that 100T hook as the photo appears to show... then again my experiences of Russian safety standards would suggest they'd happily walk under it (or a load slung from it) without a care in the world.

If you've ever been in a Manufacturing plant ie: a steel mill, or power plant for instance, workers are allowed to & do walk & work under hook blocks. A suspended load of ANY kind including rigging or spreader bars is a different matter altogether. They cant caution tape off a whole plant floor as the crane & trolley can cover the whole area thruout a day.
