Dustinlb, here’s proof that it isn’t a huge deal to get thru it. I have been taking it every renewal cycle that was required of me since it has been in existence and scored pretty much the exact same thing each time since the mid 90s. It’s all about how well you use your time, and knowing that the best answer [in the opinion of the test committee] is not always the right answer, but it’s still the one they are looking for.
so true!!! i can't believe how much emphasis they place on the allotted time for the 3 timed tasks, i had no trouble but watched several operators that were very smooth and had obviously operated for some time that did. talked to one guy that was perfect on all 4 tasks but went 82 seconds over and got a fail 3 weeks later. which brings up another point there is no excuse for exam scoring and subsequent reporting to take 2 to 3 weeks! all that being said i am an strong advocate of certification for operators, it just seems that legal and political views and opinions are outweighing common sense aspect of it.
