Wanna know how it ends? :)

I remember it too. I was 5 years old and we was running 3 7's at the time.:0

2 48A's and a 17A.....I kept one eye on that ol stick shift for a while;)

I want to think a guy lured that thing down in a valley with a old tin shack and a bunch of barrels.

Man that was a long time ago......

I also remember when the movie came out, did not know what to think, a alien intelligence taking over a machine, and where di all the fuel come from, was a fun movie to watch back then. I was 17 and yes I have dated myself.

The book/ short story was better and made more sense. Look up Killdozer by Theodore Sturgeon.. a great science fiction writer.

Q?/ If a D9 was chasing you, would you really crawl into a piece of steel culvert pipe? Human dial tone.. duuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

You need to get "Maximum Overdrive", need a little trucking action also.
I've seen " Kill Dozer " several times.
sadly the last time I checked, it wasn't available on vhs or dvd :(

I have a soft place for that movie because the D9 they used was an early model series G similar to the first one I ever operated. I always suspected the box like enclosure atip the fuel tank/behind the operator was for a radio control system.

I recorded it one time when I came across it on TV some years ago.

Anyone still have a Beta Max machine to play it on?

Beta Max, lol! (Betamax?)

Besides the Killdozer and Maximum Overdrive, there was a movie with a demonic killer Lincoln Continental with a chopped top and blacked-out windows, and one with Denis Weaver driving a Vega, being attacked by a semi tractor. Prob a few more, too... like the Twilight Zone where the aliens cause a black-out and then turn on and off a few powered things, and cause the humans to suspect each other and turn against each other.

I remember Killdozer from a drive-in movie theater. Like seeing Godfather, I was there, but I only saw the movie screen out of the corner of my eyes...

Are you thinking of "Christine"?

...and one with Denis Weaver driving a Vega, being attacked by a semi tractor.

That one was "Duel". Stephen Speilberg's first feature film. Nothing supernatural in that one, but creepy in that Speilberg never lets you see the truck driver's face...

I think it was titled: "The Monsters are due on Maple Street". Or maybe it was Elm Street. Any who- it was part of the New Year's Day Marathon. I think Syfy channel ran it.

You're dating yourself, digger.

The Southern Gentleman in me will decline comment on that subject, as it fails the test of proper sportsmanship...

"and one with Dennis Weaver driving a Vega, being attacked by a semi tractor."

We Mopar guys take offense at that statement.... Dennis was driving a 1970 4 door Plymouth Valiant! Like an unmodified Vega could outrun a Peterbilt....LOL
It turns out that one of the 3 trucks used in filming that movie is still in existence and displayed at truck shows. If you G00Gle the "Duel Truck" there is a lot of information on the trucks and the movie.

The boxy platform at the back of the D9 in Killdozer was used to hide the actual operator in the scenes where it was operating by itself. Just things I've read on the net over the years.

And if you want to read the much better short story.. here you are.

http://arthursbookshelf.com/sci-fi/sturgeon/theodore sturgeon - killdozer.pdf

The idea was visited again a few years ago by Director SV Bell with his movie Crawler. I haven't seen this one but I'd like to. Features a Dresser TD20E I believe..
