Bomb proof Kolbeco 210

Had an interesting one today! We are going to modify a 210 to customer specs for the purpose of digging up old unexploded ordinance on Ft Bragg.
Specs are, what I know so far anyway, 3 inch thick lexan in front of operator. 1/2 steel plate under cab area, 1/2 steel plate over window, closest to boom. Machine already has the ROPS installed over cab and has a hyd thumb. Anyone ever seen or did this before?

I bet would be a trip to operate while feeding a burning pit on a clearing job ;)

It's an putside contractor who is renting the machine from us, but is paying for the mods to comply with the regs so they can do the job. After the job is done (6 months) the mods will be removed and likely trashed.
I'll try to post some before, during and after pics.

Try telling that to the boys in Calhoun GA that have been welding structures and assembling Kobelco excavators since the late 80's. You might find a redneck or two with a case of the red @ss!! :usa

That's not bad I count 4 dozers just to pull out one lousy tank:eek: and it's not even in that bad at least that stuff is dry.

i can just see it now. some OSHA guy telling a solider holding a M16 that he can't do something that way because its unsafe. all the while RPGs and bombs are goin off all around them. :rolleyes:
