please do not forget to include your model along with the serial number of your machine in the post.
also, in regards to the engine, the make, model type and serial number helps.

cheers!

Started her up today in preparation for tomorrow. Has been sitting for a bit with the bad weather. Hasn't worked a solid day for around a month, but started about once a week to keep everything ready to work.
Batteries are a little over 6 years old, but have been fine up till today when she seemed a little sluggish turning over and when she started the CPU light was on. I am assuming that the CPU was not working at all as the return to idle button did nothing. Let it run for a few minutes, shut off and restarted, no CPU light and everything functioning normally again, digging modes, 2speed track modes, return to idle and wipers all fine. Could this just be a CPU glitch due to the batteries failing? You opinion would be valued.

hi Baz,
i do believe you are right on the money with that one. the cpu light is an indication of a problem that has occurred in the cpu or with the main power feeds or grounds.
with your machine and many of the kobelco's (likely all) the computers like to see 18+V with ignition switch on.
your C-1 controller cpu is mounted to the back of the r/h console.
it has a lid that hinges open and led lights that are used to help indicate a problem with the machine horsepower controls or the cpu itself.
my suggestion is your batteries are due to be replaced.
(remember when checking fluid levels on machines - that does include the batteries as well. top up each cell to level with distilled water only.)
be sure to also clean up the battery cable ends too.
i do believe the batteries are N120's.
if not 4D-1000's.
once you get started and at wot (full throttle) check the charging.
should be 27 - 28 VDC.
then, ign switch on " ON " e/g off, flip open the computer lid.
if the PCB is working proper and operational you should here a very faint kind of high pitched hissing.
if not, i have repaired them myself in the past. or we do stock new.
off to work now.
cheers!

We had one of there in our showroom for years. It arrived in the early 90s shortly after we became a Kobelco dealer. It was fun to play with but has no real use other than a advertising gimmick.

So SK350, last years model, dont have SN handy, When you top the boom cyls out and put it over relief the stick comes in, when you top the stick cyl out, the boom goes up? Ive pretty much got it narrowed to the control valve just not sure if i should relace half of it or all of it. Bypassed the pattern changer to eliminat that as well as swapped the line reliefs.

hi ben46a,
regarding your Kobelco SK350LC-8,
you will require the following new replacement parts.
the ARM 2 spool supercedes, including a new lower spool cap and detent plug.
also the 2 unloading valves supercede part numbers and should also be replaced.
part numbers as follows along with the recommended ordering status.
1 -> LC30V00034R220, ARM 2 SPOOL, must order on a unit down
1 -> LC30V00034S979, SPOOL CAP, LWR, must order on a unit down
1 -> LC30V00034S981, SPOOL CAP, LWR, DETENT PLUG, must order on a unit down
2 -> YN30V00120F2, VALVE, UNLOADING, order on an air
1 -> ZD12P00800, o-ring, likely stocked
1 -> ZD12G04000, o-ring, likely stocked
1 -> ZD12G05000, o-ring, likely stocked

also, i recommend you check the cpu version in your machine computer.
the latest greatest version is 6.00
depress the buzzer stop switch on your monitor display and while holding turn the ignition switch to " ON " position. do NOT start the engine.
screen no. 1 should display and read the version.
depending on your version, if older you will require a kobelco dealer to download the newer version. if not, ship the computer to me and i can bench load the version.
afterwards, the machine will require setting up and this can be done over the phone.
ensuring that all the hyd sensors readouts are as they should, the engine rpm's within specs, as well as all the hyd pressures too.
this may involve un-tweaking some screen settings to do so.
then re-tweaking after.

if your machine has only the one HINO fuel filter,
there is an optional dual fuel filter assembly field install kit that is available for ordering.
an improved filtration system. i do highly recommend that you consider purchasing it. it will better your filtration of the fuel system and prevent possible problems down the road.
the price of this kit compared to the high costs involved if you were to run into problems in the fuel system is in my mind cheap insurance!
kit part# LC32T00017F1, can be ordered on a stock order
new replacement fuel filters used in the kit
- VH23390E0020, 2 um fuel filter
- LS21P01013R100, 7 um fuel filter
be sure to also have spares brought in on a stock order as well.

Hi Mr. Kobelco,

Thank you for posting this thread. I have a quick question for you regarding the undercarriage for a Kobelco SK130-4. Do you know if the track chains and sprockets from a Kobelco SK120-3 are compatible with a SK130-4?

The reason i ask is that the online parts catalogue gives slightly different numbers although the machines are alsmost identical except for the engines. I am about to buy some used chains for a 120-3 and wanted to make sure.

Thank you,
Imran

Thank you sir, ill run it by the dealer here and see what they say. The tech line never mentioned anything like this. Was this the reason for the changup in the spool?
