yale mechanic

anyone out there familiar with yale forklifts? got to put a flywheel in one need a couple pointers:beatsme

Is it a small Yale forklift with no driveshaft between tranny and differential? If so, it's pull the engine to replace flywheel. Sometimes you have to remove the radiator to have enough room to remove engine. Biggest PITA about small forklifts is you can get to anything underneath, too close to the ground. Is it a manual or automatic tranny?

auto trans got the counter weight off ,coolers out,exhaust and all disconnected.the bell housing bolts loose. looking for the torq converter bolts.dont see them thru the starter hole from the front.:Banghead

If you can't access flex plate bolts through starter hole, then there might be a small access hole on opposite side of engine on rear engine plate. Otherwise, probably has a cover on bottom of bell housing to remove and access flex plate bolts. Ahh, forklifts...not easy to get underneath them. :Banghead

this thing is caked up with crud .i scraped off a bunch but i guess not enough to see another acess port for the converter bolts.it having a 4.3 makes it even tighter::Banghead

Yep, that's the way the get over time.

I'm one of the lucky ones. I lift them off the ground with a 15,000 lb Nissan forklift and pressure wash the crud from them over top of grease trap. Might have to spend 2 hrs cleaning it, but it's worth it. :yup

yea the mistake i made is i disabled it inside and do not want a cat 3 mess in the shop to clean up

Cool, glad ya got it out.

I stayed in motels in Kenton County when I was working jobs in Northern Kentucky back in the 90's. Lot's of good eatin' places up there. Sure would like to have some ribs from Walt's Hitchin' Post or a Chili 5-way from Dixie Chili. :cool2

I worked on several horizontal drilling projects in the area, most were highway projects, a couple were private projects. Highway projects were installing horizontal drains on the Aa Hwy just south of I-275, and on the Licking Pike improvement project at Wilder. Did they ever get that finished? Also did directional drilling to install electrical conduit under the interstate for the sign boards on I-75, I-275 east, and I-471 south of river. If you've lived there for some years, you may remember seeing my drill rig on the side of the interstate. This was back in the 90's when they still had that stupid entrance/exit ramp at Erlanger Rd on I-75 that caused so many wrecks. A buddy of mine that lives in the area said they finally got rid of that stupid intersection.
