My Kubota RTV900 was stolen from our farm sometime last night. It has been reported to the macon county sheriff's office, Department of agriculture, alabama bureua of investigation, and crimestoppers. It is posted on machinery trader and i'm in the process of putting it into the national equipment registry. Serial # is20031125DY2. ROPS # is R105230.If you live near macon county alabama, keep an eye out. it also has the hard orange FOPS roof. they cut two heavy duty chains and had to move two other larger tractors to acess the kubota. no other items were missing. thanks everybody and try and get the word out.

I'm retired and spend a lot of time on ebay, craigslists and various equipment sites. I've noted the serial#'s and will keep my eyes open. sorry this happened. And if you caught them in the act and took a .22 to them, you would be the one in trouble, really gets my blood roiled!

I know you are right.
Even if your guard dog takes them down. You will be in the courts.
I do not even want to think of what they would do to my faithfull companion.
I think it is even illegal to detain them till the law arrives.

I know of a New Holland 555 skidsteer that was stolen one weekend from a jobsite, and recovered five years later from a farm about 20 miles away. It had only a couple hundred more hours on it than when it was stolen, so it apparently was never used anywhere but the farm. I guess you could afford to do that if you didn't have to pay for it...

i have contacted all of the kubota dealerships around me and the have then contacted kubota's main office so that they could put it on a stolen equipment list to be sent out to all dealers so when it comes in for service we can nail em. we figure it is just going to be sold based on other reports from our area recently. there have been 6 utv thefts in the past two months out here and 3 of those were anonymously tipped in to the police as being sold. but i have a strong feeling that we will get it back. someday.

You have to shoot them and swear they were trying to run you down with it so your life was in danger. I learned that lesson 27 years ago! Cost me 5 grand and a bunch of headache for a few years but was well worth it. It is a shame you can't keep what you work so hard for without using deadly force. I have thought about putting an ignition interlock on my RTV. They are heavy suckers if they cant start them up to steal them. They caught some kids stealing ATV's and it turns out they had even stolen the ramps they were using to load them back in hunting season last year. The guy they stole the ramps from was disabled and had to ride his 4 wheeler to hunt with it. This whole problem is getting out of hand.

Did they bring a trailer to haul it off? or did they just drive away on it?

It sounds like they knew what they were looking for and went there specifically for it. Thefts like that usually mean they have a buyer for it already and it's probably already there. What I would try to figure out is who knew you had the RTV? If you trust those who you know of that knew of it, I'd be looking at neighbors. Somebody might have been snooping around your place to see what you have.

well theyve broken in eight times before. its always the same guys because they always use the same place to come in from. both of our neighbors are in their seventies though. not too worried about em.

This type of vehicle does attract thieves. What amazes me is how fast thieves work.

Someone stole a neighbor's 6 WD Polaris a while ago. He saw a car that he did not recognize drive into the yard at night and went out to check. By the time he got outside, he heard the overhead door on the locked garage open and the 6 WD start. The car then came at him with its lights off, hit him, and knocked him off the driveway into a snow drift.

Since there was snow on the ground, the RCMP followed the tracks and found it later that night hidden in a bluff of trees about ten miles away. They never made an arrest or discovered how the thieves knew their way around that well.

Like someone said, they may have had a buyer for your unit and already sold it. Or they may have dropped it off somewhere and will let it sit for a while until the heat is off.

8 times????? Two things you know for sure, they will be back for a ninth time, and you need to do something different then you did the last 8 times they were there.

I wouldn't limit myself to just the people that live next door. Especially if they are elderly and not out and about very much. I'd be looking several properties down and just about everyone in a one mile circle. My guess is that they are wondering the woods and shopping everyones properties. I would also go door to door and ask around if anybody else has been hit. The police should do this, but they wont. Tell them what's been happening to them first and those who might be reluctant to talk will open up.

You might even meet the thieves!!!!

yeah- weve tried a few different things but they always manage to get around everything that we do to stop them. we had a game camera set up but all that it caught was a bright flash of light. it is an infrared camera though, so no flash. its confusing. but yes, three neighbors have been hit in the past few weeks.

That's strange about the game camera. Maybe they shone a flashlight at it or something like that.

It sounds as if it is time to invest in security equipment. How many people do you know that installed their alarm system AFTER the breakin?

The cheapest and simplest method might be to install one or two driveway sensors that set off a sound alert in the house.

Or you might want a complete alarm system. As one part of that system, you might want to install motion detectors or sound detectors (glass breakage, etc), in outside areas. The alarm system can be programmed into zones and security levels so as not to set off an actual alarm if something sets off the outside detectors. Instead, you will hear a chime or voice alert inside the house. (False alarms can be problems in outside areas, so you likely would not want to have it trigger a siren.) It also is possible to install a phone dialer on an alarm system. Even if you are not at home, your cell phone will ring if you have an intruder. Or you can hire a monitoring company.

This was a ring of thieves in the area. They used a rollback type tow truck to yank it up on the bed, from resident reports when questioned about it.

Funny, How a certain salespersons customers were all robbed........
