Looks Good.
taking it down is the easy and fun part. loading it out and cleaning the site is the real work.
how are you loading out the debris?

We are doing some demo at work. They are using a Deere 160, and a 18" bucket. Then loading it out with a 36" bucket. No thumb, no grapple, just a bucket. It can be done.

Oh really? Load a lot of demo do you?

Done quite a bit actually. Sometimes you just gotta run what ya brung. It is certainly quicker and more effeicent to have a grapple, or thumb. Sometimes you take jobs just to stay busy, and you dont have the right equipment. Since you do not do it all the time, its not worth the investment.

I wrecked an auto repair shop/ strip mall last summer. All I had was a 320D with a 48 inch bucket. It wasnt the easiest, but i was able to load all the scrap metal out, and all the debris out with that bucket.

i've never seen it done with just a bucket. never tired it. the first machine i bought had a thumb on it, and since then moved up to demo grapples on all my machines. just going from a thumb to a grapple made jobs that much quicker and easier.

Here ya go, Bierlein Demolition. I believe they are one of the top 20 demo contractors nation wide, according to profits, Wrecking with a bucket. They Had two other machines both with grapples on site. They were sorting while the machine with a bucket was the front line machine so to speak

Here ya go,
And your point is? If they are a top demo outfitt I`ll bet, they did not load with only a bucket.
Of course you can wreck with only a bucket. Which Dig Up just showed us, and he did a fine job.

You know, Your right, im wrong. Loading brick with a bucket would be stupid. Who would think a bucket that is made to load items wouldnt be able to load out demolition debris. I guess im just a demo dummy

It tickles me that the guys who are born and raised around machines with a thumb cant imagine being able to do anything without a thumb.

Dont get me wrong they appear to be a wicked piece of gear for certain jobs.

We dont do thumbs in the UK but we seem to manage :D

A thumb or grapple is 1000 times more efficient, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do to get the job done. Anyone whose ever worked for themselves knows that.

I totally understand what everyone is saying about making due with what they have, trust me after 23yrs as an owner operator, no one understands it more than me. I was running the old Hoptoes and Gradall excavators both track and truck mounted way before thumbs ever hit the market. So I know it can be done, but to due it the quickest cleanest and most cost effective there is no better way that I have seen.

Rob I looked at your site, very impressive looking operation, you should treat yourself to a thumb, you`d be a huge hit on that side of the pond. Hell I wish you had a tool there that I could use here that would revolutionize the rental market! I`m always looking.
