High hours??

I have always considered a small to mid size dozer with over 4000 hours to be "mid-high" as far as hours are concerned. We were talking about that at work today and I was wondering what everyone else may think.This is all considering the machine has new bottom, tight pins and good sevice history.

I don't know about small to mid size dozers, but 4,000 hours is brand new compared to any of our dozers. We just bought a used D11R that had 4,125 hours on it when we got it, it's the newest dozer in our fleet. Our next newest dozer has around 26,000 hours, and our oldest has over 100,000 hours on it.

Ya on a dozer as big as a D11 you better be running it atleast two shifts a day to pay for it.. Man I could not imagine the payment on a dozer that is what..... one point something million right.

To me 4000 hrs is just getting broke in. At this point I would start measuring undercarriage wear more seriously, maybe take some shims out of the blade assembly, perhaps a little engine and injector tune-up. Up around 15-20,000 hrs is high to me, but I'm not around super high production dirt jobs, like quarry's and mines and stuff, but I guess they wouldn't run much smaller stuff anyway. Whole lot a variables to consider.

My D3 has 8,500 hours on it and going strong. D7 17,000 and D8 9,600. All three are very productive units.

d4h lgp- 10,000 hrs d5h lgp 12,000 hrs d7h 13,000 hrs. All have new u/c within 1500hrs and the d5 has a rebuilt motor (result of operator abuse. Started her up in -35 degree weather reved her up and away he went after about thirty seconds. ) Besides that no problems.
