I have a customer who bought a Madill 009 parts machine who is looking to part it out. It came down to Bellingham, Washington on a barge from Prince of Wales Island, Alaska. If anyone is looking for parts let me know and I can put you in touch with the owner.View attachment 256232
We are looking for that center gear (46 tooth) in the 3 gear system on the right side of the machine. It seems to be a common issue for these machines, we have 2 009s and they both have that issue. We use them as dredges for gravel.

Do you use one of the front guylines as a standing skyline?

That's correct, The skyline is on the front guylines with a locking pin. That system is a lot better then the saurman style or the 046 Madill. You never have to worry about slack on your skyline unless a anchor moves.

Nice, the 009s and the 046 and the only ones as far as I know that can handle a 8 bucket. we also have a 8 yarder158 saurman and a 10 yarder 208 saurman. I am very familiar with the 009 rubber wheel machines. Easy to fix compared to the saurmans. We upgraded our madills with air silinodes, way more responsive and quicker. Like I said the middle gear is the biggest issue with them, I am guessing cause they are vertical and the gear grease just flies off at higher speeds. Also the constantly turnwhere as a saurman you can stop them.

The problem with that middle gear on those machines is the drive is turning one gear and the drums are driven by the other, when you have a hangup the shock is transfered to that middle gear as the torque is still applying full power.

It's not like you have a rigging slinger to walk the turns in so that middle gear is the sacrificial lamb.

It's a 90 ft tower but we modify it so the drag is lower. In these pics you don't see it, just for dredging you want your skyline as high as possible and your drag line shive lower so you can go deeper and also your ramp coming up is not as steep. We don't use the Ramsey bucket, we use the saurman style bucket, digs way better.

Those 46 tooth gears were a pretty good money maker for us service guys. Work all day in the shop and all night travelling to machine Re&RE gear and travel back. Customers were always happy because we would have them up and running for the next day. Worst part of the job was having to pull the straw drum as I recall. And I hate gear dope. d.d.

Would you happen to know where we can get a 46 tooth gear made up these days. You can't find this anymore, Saratoga ventures out of BC and wheeler can't find them anymore. I would prefer New not used but at this point I'll take what I can get. I have found someone to make it but they want the schematics of the gear from manufacturer. Can't seem to get my hands on that ether.

For us, we removed the straw drum altogether. For dredging we have no use for it. I remember the first time the hallback clutch blow, seeing the line come in from the hallback tension brake, I took the whole tension brake apart thinking the clutch was behind there (that was before we took the straw drum off) learned pretty fast that the clutch was on the other side of the machine and the line I saw went through the hallback shaft.
