BW you will like this story.
My job before this one I worked for a Ag company. They got a new GM that was a micro manager
and full of himself. When I went to work there they had 7 DOT red tags the year before, their
yearly expenditure on the trucks/trailers was $700,000, by the time I left I had managed to lower
it to $340.000 which included money for new/used trucks in the budget. Anyway he and I didn't
get along too well, imagine that.
He set a policy that before any drivers were hired I had to road test them. This driver showed up
at the shop and said he had already been hired but need a road test after the fact. The new
manager hired him as a favor to a relative. I called the GM, he was setting in Safeco stadium watching
a Mariners game. I asked you hired him {Yup he said} I said you set a policy you have no business
hiring a driver before road test. He blew up, hung up.
I was at the shop the next morning and he comes flying up jumps out {Your FIRED you will never work
in this town AGAIN}. I asked it if I could use the forklift to set my tools in the back of my truck.
Yes But Make It Quick. I forked them up drove out the gate down the street 2/3's of a block and set
them down in Tate's shop, Gayle was grinning. I drove back parked the lift [he was steaming mad].
Have my check mailed to me with vacation pay that's included. You see I was asked to go to work
by Tate two years ago you can't stop a guy like me, have a nice f@cking day pi$$ants like you are
dime a dozen.
In two years he drove the company broke it sold to CHS. I was told by no less than three different
people that don't even know each other he was last seen wearing a orange apron working the
aisles at Home Depot.
F@ucking Big Shot he was.
