Like the stories it put this much on the ground when it was dyno tested. Hog Wash.
Pittsburg Power put out so much false information, bogus. The 14L 855 Cummins was
only capable of 500 hp and less other wise it would eat the cam from too much fuel psi.
The stress on the cam jumps significantly if fuel system isn't match flowed. There is only
so much you can get out of these engines no matter what brand and have it reliable.
You may increase horse power but peak torque not so much.

you can jack up an engine, guys jack up those common rails like mine in my pickup to crazy numbers. They just won't do it for very long.
I look at truck engines the same way I look at aircraft engines. It isn't real unless it's a continuous rating. That means all the systems have to be up to speed for that amount of power and torque and heat.

You flash 'er wit' the 875hp Australian marine C18 file, set the trim codes 7777 across the board, run the fuel stabiliator screw in 2 turns, and bada-boom-bada-bing she'll be layin' down 1,400 to the ground.

Can remember the first Aneroids, we had to replace a load of headlamp trim screws as the missing were lodged in the fuel lines that also had to be repaired. Driver SWORE made 50hp difference, IDIOTS. EVERY Accident that involved the trucks in the first fleet I worked where the trucks were either towed back to yard or to a Shop outside due to distance had to be inspected for pump tampering. Found SEVERAL with the above condition and a few with Stingers in the idle screw cover plug hole on the Cummins. the old Detroits would inspect the fuel return lines, ANY Vice Grip marks drivers were fired, ANY seal missing on the governor housing same.

This is a original gangster azimuth valve.
I’ve been doing this for awhile and this is the first one I’ve ever seen in the wild. Had no idea these were still in use in 1981. Hard to believe it’s never been converted to modern DOT406 spec TTMA flange style internal valves.

Get this, Wert’s Welding has a dusty one the shelf in Billings. No gaskets. The Betts factory still custom builds them at the factory special request. Lead time- 16 weeks.

Werts big operation here is Wood River IL
About mile and a half from the house I grew up in.
Cannot believe that antique is still intact.

Cannot remember the Goat roper POS ID Label I dragged hauling Diesel and JP with in STL Area, STEEL tank, early 70s vintage, 8500gal with under tank stores a pto driven pump system and NO BAFFLES. One hole Drop and could NOT legally load 6000 in that bustard anywhere near to a scale. Rocked the tractor for HOURS trying to get the Slosh under control. It was Wert's that failed it finally in 1982 and it went to some scrapper. Had USAF markings painted over, was originally Blue, believe to have been a Runway Refueler where weight did not matter.

I don't know if I want to pi$$ him off, he says he spent 11 years in the SEAL's before he started driving truck and being an engine and transmission and CB expert.

Early in my Youth I lived in the lovely industrial Center of East Alton IL, Rail Switchyard essentially in my backyard and nearly every block had real time truck drivers with their own trucks and Construction machines EVERYWHERE, I grew insatiable as to RR and Heavy Trucks/Equipment Knowledge. Then we moved to the 'Burbs, end of our street was a cornfield, I watched and yearned to learn all I could of the machines they used to build the Burbs, to construct the Interstates, actually witnessed the development of I-70 thru E Central MO and W Illinois.

Been dealing with much of it since the mid seventies hands on, going on 47 years now. Had the stint at the Nuke, eye opener on the machinery/materials I helped to get trucked around the nation. Realy have a dislike for those that consider themselves Trucking Aficionados that never drove or put a wrench to even one.

1980 K100 3406A 400hp DITA, 10spd, 8 bag on SQHP's 3.70 ratio. Interior is in pretty good shape and will clean up. 24,000 miles on Cat in-frame.
$3,000. Plus I'm working on a 1962 KW 923 335hp. Straight fiberglass tilt hood. $ 3,000.
