Thursday , Thought I was going to help put together a 3900 W for a railroad bridge replacement job.The spot is tough to get to because of the low area to run through to get to it.
Friday , Move a 138 link belt for another company. Second machine setting in limbo with no job for these guys.Tore down , loaded, moved across the metro and unloaded in 6 hrs. 170 foot main , 30 foot jib
Another 248 Link Belt move from the last KTU job of the year for us,Plenty of room to unload this thing . This place we unloaded is a store yard . Lots of stuff sitting.
994 waiting a place to go,second pic is just to give an idea how big it is.
3 brand new Sany's ,Sheaves still have paint on them
Fridays job , This is a twice a year thing for us.Power company has modular barge sections that they use to keep ice from the Missouri river out of their water intake.
Put the barges in the river in winter then pull them out in spring.Used a 180 ton machine .
The 4 electric water pumps sitting in front of the intake building are in case the river drops low the Gantry crane picks them up and sets them in the river .
In the past We have pinned the sections together .Not this time , Power company is in cost cutting mode and the guys on the barges are plant people .
They might have saved money but they hired a tow boat to help them also . I think anything they saved they blew on the boat . Last year we when we did this it was just the crane and some rope .
looked at the spec sheet for the 9000e... looks bigger on paper than the photo
60 degrees is 12000 lbs.. don't know it's angle there.. I think I looked at it right..
what would be scary is lifting 1080 pounds 215 feet from the center and 230 foot of boom..... I think I would pass on that lift..
closer is always the better option.
Took the 180 ton Demag to a power plant today.Set off a couple of 105,000 lbs vessels .Will move a 300 ton crawler in later to set these. Another company had a Liebherr in there . No details because the oiler found out I was a driver and walked off ,Oh well.
I have been slowing down on ya but here is the latest . Company was hired to move a 348 Link Belt, A 300 ton crawler .Kind of a different machine. One thing I hate about it is the mast . It uses two small hydraulic cylinders to fold the mast over backwards.
It changes the center of gravity drastically when you do that , So much so we blocked the carbody and chained it to the trailer in order the prevent a huge mistake .
Also it uses a hydraulic cylinder to hoist with not the load line. With the limited travel of the cylinder the rigging will need to change likely every job . Crane built on mats one length of rigging , Crane flat on the ground another length.
The 348 link Belt was put together to Take down a tower crane.Have set a lot of machines to do this but haven't been around to see it done .I was there today .
1st jib section was over the street just because of the reach and access problems ,Plus 3 other tower machines still working
