Inter674 if you ever drive by these machines again could you notice serial numbers? You may find two plates, one on winch frame below main drum and one on the guyline A-frame. It should also be a small plate welded to the left front of carrier frame just under the front saddle. Tower should have a similar plate in bottom and/or where main line goes into the back side of tower. Thank you!

#66 belonged to HC Contracting, not sure if thats still the case or not. Theres a walk around video of this machine on youtube. Looks like it had been working shortly before the video was done.

I stumbled upon these three Madills today in the Cowichan Valley. It seems that they were dragged down here from a boneyard in the Interior and are being rebuilt. The Skyline machine (fresh yellow paint) and the red one are ex M & B. That interests me..... I don't know the origins of the yellow one on blocks. I talked to the guy in charge and he says there is a demand for these now and all three are being put back in service. I took pics of the data plates with my phone camera. It's been a while since I saw a Madill in these parts.

It is outstanding to see these great old machines being put back to work. They must have some long corners to need these labor intensive machines in this day and age. Don't scrap them, just preserve them in storage.

It would seem that two of these are Skyline machines. Here's a few more pics.

1977 Berger Yarder

Has a V-12 1275 hp engine for the winch and a separate 400 hp engine for the skyline which is on a separate carrier (on tank tracks). Tower is supposedly 250 ft high (but didn't see it assembled). Photos taken at Duke Point (Nanaimo), BC, in May 1995

Fire came from bottom left and jumped road. Operator was already clear. Fire burned the fuel, oil, tires, and grease - got so hot the frame of the yarder warped. No possibility of repair. Zeballos, BC, July, 1995
