What the heck is that big framework on the gooseneck?
Here, Nigel, a 1972 P-9.....
The owner says this was one of the last Pacifics built.
This could be a dumb question, that I can find out elsewhere. But what year could it have been built? And I wish I could get pictures like you Clint, your an inspiration for my photography.
Not too sure what the story is with this truck, the serial number badge says that it is a model 4640-S from 1963, but the hood says that she is a P10. I would be very curious to see what the permanent serial number on the frame says. More information and photos here: http://www.pacifictruckclub.org/RegDetail.php?SN=T6360-214
P-9 chunk truck.
I well remember stamping and installing the aluminum Pacific Truck name plates.By the time I got there in 1977 we only used them on the trailers..

ITs for power line clearance, when you are moving a grapple yarder say 144, you boom down on the bracket on the lowbed then you lower the gantry and it sits on the boom. And you get your clearance and still can move the lowbed. Otherwise you have to get off the lowbed and boomdown on logging truck trailer to get under the lines. Both of them are pain in the ass moves, the lowbed one just least painfull if you have many crossings.
When I was in there two weeks ago I counted 30 plus trucks before I lost count, that not counting all the other smaller trucks and trailers and such. Heres a picture of Englewoods Pacfic low bed. I never got a good picture of all the trucks in Dukes shop need to fly over it to see them all
