I have a quick question has anyone ever loaded a scraper with a excavator instead of pushing with a dozer. We are in a pit where pushing wouldn't work. Thanks for any advice

Do it on occasion. Not very efficient because it is slower. Also depending on the scraper and the hoe you have to be careful for damage.

Yes but not too many times. Mostly loading muck and spreading it out to attempt to dry it. As 51kw said not very efficient.

Done it often, but it helps to have a bucket small enough to fit between the neck and the gate, otherwise a lot of material ends up behind the gate.

Loaded a lot of scrapers with excavators. Off road trucks our better but if you have scrapers sitting and no off road trucks available, use them!

Before the artics became popular and readily available one outfit I worked for did this often with paddle wheel scrapers, was particularly handy when you needed to spread lifts in the fill.

Some of the large pull-pans on the market work ideal for top loading. They are a nice large and low target for the excavator operator to dump, and in some cases, the capacity is larger than 40-Ton truck capacity.
