Hi, just signed up after reading this entire thread. It started out as a post on FB, in which I found a pic of an old twinsteer, advertised for sale as a 71 C500b, with a 5 digit s/n... Good lookin old bed truck --sorta.
A couple of comments from some friends got me curious. I'm on holidays, so, asked a co-worker to look up the serial, tell me what it started as. It was 85751c, Vancouver built unit, Consolidated Bathurst, apparently. It started life as an LW848, 12v71n65, FL901, Clark 71's, KWC susp, 1263/9411c. Still has the 12v71 and that is nearly about it, as far as original goes. It does still have an A model cab, does not appear to be original 1971 style doors, they had the turndown handles. Looks as though it now has BD91, still a 6 & 4 (probably a 1241 instead of a 9411), and it appears to have at least one drive steer axle in it now
I like puzzle trucks like this one, it is amazing how much work people have done to some of these old girls, especially when they want to build a bed truck out of one. I know of lots of various components that came from the Island and Wash to build bed trucks with around here. I've shipped some of them overseas, old 4640's, Clark's as well.
Thought you may find it interesting as to what happens to some of these units in their old age.

Here is an old KW, not sure what model it is, never seen one like it before, looks to be fairly heavy duty for it's time.
And welcome to the site Dave. by any chance do you work at Kenworth in Calgary?

We got a tiny bit of snow early this morning and I missed playing in it a week ago so I was outside at daylight making tracks. Merry Christmas everybody!

Quite realistic with even a pot hole or two. Guess the blade man missed them the night before. You sure do a great job building them, Reg!

Well Reg. First of all I am jealous. Next you are having fun and you deserve it. Merry Xmas,Bp

Merry Christmas Ian! No need to be jealous, come on down and grab a remote! I have a few and can only use one at a time. ;)

Merry Christmas to you too DB! Maybe we'll see you in Duncan again next year? No need to clear snow here today. Need to build a scale Pioneer water pump instead.lol

I watched the video back and realized that I drove right over a big rock! It makes sense as it was the only one sticking up on the ENTIRE driveway.lol I see you're currently warming your buns in sunny Florida so that's good Jim. Maybe you'll make it out this way in 17? Seems like the numbers might line up...

Someone told me recently that "Boar Logging" had the last KW 850 ever built and that it was actually put together back east after the Burnaby plant shut. Anyone know if there is truth to that?

Looking for Info on this truck

IMG_0584-1.jpg
The company I work for acquired this Kenworth that had been converted to a watertruck. We are all curious to know any history on this truck. We think it came from the Cowichan Lake area, but are not sure. It has been kept the BCFP colours. The truck's number were under old paint --found this picture through the number of the truck, but don't know any history. I think the number is 6-276 - maybe. TIA ~mistx

The last new or other wise "Off Highway" logging truck purchased at BCFP Renfrew or Caycuse Division's , was the #6-264 a P 16 Pacific Preloader in May or June 1980 for Renfrew Div.. The next new logging trucks purchased for Renfrew Div. were the #6-280 , #6-281 , #6-282 , #6-283 , #6-284 P510s Pacific highway logging trucks in 1986 . The #6-253 HDX Hayes and #6-257 a P 16 Pacific was moved from Silver River to Renfrew Div. in fall 1982 . Around the same time the #6-258 a P 16 Pacific was moved to Caycuse Div . from Silver River , also the #6-245 and #6-246 HDX Hayes were moved from Malibu to Caycuse Div. . That's the first 849 or 850 Kenworth I've seen painted BCFP colors , I don't know for sure , but I suspect the Elk River Timber Division of BCFP ( which was purchased by BCFP in the late 1970's or early 1980's ) had Kenworth Off Highway logging trucks .

Boulder Bill , WFP North Island Forest Operation . A couple of Off Highway Kenworth'View attachment 163540View attachment 163541s not sure who owns them .
The chunk trucks belong to Vic Lamontane . He has sold one, not sure if he got rid of the other one or not when he retired last year. And the Kenworth looks like Western one. 2119 or 2129 depending on how long ago this picture was taken
