I think my transmission scavenge pump is going bad. Sometimes when I check the oil level its up or down by about 5 gallons. I got around a gallon of oil out of the torque converter when I took the scavenge line off. After starting it and letting it run for a while I shut it off and removed the cover on the back of the trans, the oil level is around half way up the side of the clutches. Anybody know how much oil is suposed to be in there?
Some details.

suction screens are clean
powershift trans, not a diff steer
runs fine other than the filter bypass indicator comes on at startup when the oil is cold, I have replaced the switch, filter, oil, cleaned out the trans case during some recent repairs, checked pressures and the lines from the torque converter to the oil cooler for debris. when I start it up the indicator comes on within a few seconds and stays on for 10 minutes or so. I'm running an ultra high efficiency filter. anyone else use these filters? When I order the original filter number it has changed over to the ultra filter. Do these restrict the flow of oil more than the old standard filters. I run TO-4 30 wt. The light comes on wether its 30 degrees or 70 degrees out.
Gotta get this figured out, its driving me crazy :Banghead
