Oil in fuel or fuel in oil? If oil into fuel suspect would be the high pressure pump which will have pressure lubrication feeding it.

Well that throws another wrench in, return to tank is where I expected to find the flow, may not be HP pump then.

Somebody probably primed the new fuel filters with ATF, an old trick when they run out of fuel so they won't suck air and will pull fuel to the pump from the tank.

Anybody run it out of fuel lately?
