I'm trying to figure out what does the 'base end' & 'rod end' do.

Does 'base end' means at rest/default position? And 'rod end' means at the maxed out position?

base end refers to oil flow to the base end of the cylinder. typically on a bobcat, the base end of your aux would be the bottom (female) coupler
