BC logging equipment left to rust

Is it possible that those "Capstan Heads" were used for drive belts much like in old factory pictures. That might explain why there is one on each drum? Just a WAG on my part, but back in the day, most machinery was driven by wide leather belting.

I know I wish that was in my front yard but that's about it.lol Hopefully it stays put or gets hauled out to a hoarder of cool old things and not a scrapyard. Thanks for posting the pictures.
