ok i did the stabilizers yesterday and the swings today but i now notice one stab/ leaking from the edge where the tube and cap meet . did i do a booboo with the oring . also its not a round std black oring but a green placticey type oring with a groove ? i hate to unscrew the pia again
i did have a few ounces hydo in the tube as i reloaded the rod and it got all over as i had to manhadle it in while on machine so i bet some got in between oring and the threaded part maybe just excess dripping out ?. i got the old style with the single large one oring thats deeper in
whats with the green oring not the plain reg black one with the flat ring .. better ?
this oring was more like a square ring with two ridges and a groove in between on the outer contact side

i could just unscrew it as it is on and see if i tore it but maybe just put a bead silicone right on the inner edge a screw it up . hmmmm..11995189_1033843149969077_1098835531_o.jpg11999173_1033843029969089_1297468263_o.jpg12011506_1033843443302381_1007906282_o.jpg12018458_1033843266635732_1164898918_o.jpg12019132_1033864073300318_1602278052_o.jpg

the wipers a nice n clean but that drip is just so annoying not alot but i dont like the dirt cakeing up on the stab legs

the seal kit has a black oring and the buffer ring online .. i have gotten single wider green ring instead

If the gland outer seal is at the top of the gland, close to the flange, you will be able to fit the oring & backup.
If you remove the pin at the rod end & loosen the gland till you see the seal, you can stretch the oring & hopefully the backup (depending on material hardness) over the flange & into the groove.
Did you clean the inside of the tube where the gland seals sit? This often require a polish when resealing a cylinder.

btw - silicone wont work.....

Are you talking about a quad ring with the “X” profile? Might work, but then again, might not.
You should use what was originally there. Standard o-ring and backup work perfectly fine.
And like alrman said, polishing the seal area is important, in the barrel/tube and the groove. Doesn't have to be perfect, just smooth and clean.
And silicone is a big NO.

hey ok no drip today . during removal i propped the cly with a 4x4 up past horizontal so a few onces stayed inside . when i tries slip it back in the 4x4 fell out .got splashed as the cyl fell down.
soaking the threads . i thus popped it in screwed it down and the remnats oil must have dripped out giving me greif / i got older type .no oring at the flange

the case rebuild kit i got had the X green ring not the two piece oring n buffer . guess its holding now thankx
