    580L trans noise

I have a 98 model case 580l that seems to be noisy when switching from forward to reverse or reverse to forward when in 4wd. There is a clunking noise when I change directions.
It is not as noticeable when not in 4wd. Anybody have any ideas about this?

Take a look at how much fwd & backward movement the front axle has at the pivot pin. Take the weight of the machine with the loader, till the front wheels are just touching the ground & get out & rock the axle fwd & back, by hand. Fit the shim to the front end of the pivot, not the rear.
To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism. To steal from many is research

My 4WD 580SL does the same thing it sounds pretty rough sometimes.Mine really pops when i take it out of 4WD going down the road since it time delays to disenguage. Try to come to a complete stop before you change dirrections it is hard to do sometimes.
