looking at deere 270 with lots of problems....buy or pass ?

lookin at a deere 270 with electrical problems, the machine starts and runs , moves on low speed, high speed not working. boom and bucket not working, does this sound like a deal I should scoop up , or pass on. its listed for 7800, and has less than 4000 hrs. Im assuming this is an electrical matter and not a pump or mechanical failure.

These machines are problematic in general. I certainly would not buy one that has issues right from the start, especially with around 4K hours. Check Iron Planet, they dont bring much more than that in good working condition.

What a POS ........... what's scrap steel worth these days ...... there is alot more wrong than just wiring........ the tires look like they were thrown on just to get rid of it (all different) .... muffler is crushed ....... floor boards missing ????? .... WTF .... stay away ...... Had a '97 JD with endless wiring problems (and that machine was complete) only had 1800 hrs that was the main reason I got rid of it

$5000 as an offer ? ....you'll easily double that in parts alone ....jmho

Those where not terrible machines new. Those where the first skidsteers JD ever made themselfs and they did have teething problems. They do not seem to age well. I use to work for a Deere dealer and everyone that had 1500 was pretty beat. The brakes are alway shot. From the pictures, that thing is a wreck. Junk like that is what stupid people will pay, you arn't stupid are you?

John Deere's marketing ads at the time said it all after they released the 200 series II. "Over 100 improvements made to the orginal series" No kidding. They were a POS when they left the factory after numerous field updates they released the series II which incorporated all the updates from the factory. The 300 series is a much better machine. Buying parts for a skid steer of any make can turn a good deal into a nightmare real quick. All the parts are expensive, some like drive motors, are ridiculous. Lastly when you get done reserecting this machine (and draining your wallet) its still a 200 series John Deere that no one that knows anything wants.
