Elliott boom trucks.
We've recently been looking at upgrading to a newer boom truck from our Manitex 38124S to an Elliott 40142 a 40 ton with 142' of main boom.
Does any body have any experience (good or bad) with this model or their 50 tonner? Or any other Elliott boom truck?
Thanks.

A friend of mine that runs a bare rental crane company has 6 or 7 of them in his fleet. he says they do as well as any for day to day rental cranes.
which if they do well in rental service i think they would be OK for any other use. Personally i think the charts on the manitex are favorable compared to some of the Elliot's but you have to look chart for chart.

The chart on this one isn't bad compared to our current 38 tn manitex, mainly because it has a much wider o/r spread and a longer boom. Another advantage is that there is no (or very little) tailswing, being in the tree business this is a huge plus since you're usually setup very close to other trees.

Thats the other thing that makes it hard to compare cranes, if the setup area is much larger than another unit it really cuts down on versatility.
