The only difference these days is the dye. Both are technically the same fuel.

They are both low sulfur diesel now, so identical except for dye and price. I'm assuming you don't have storage for offroad so your buying onroad? Check around your area and see if any stations sell offroad. We have 3 in town that sell offroad so I can top off the transfer. I try to avoid doing it since i get my fuel cheaper delivered to my tanks and it's better fuel than you can buy from a station.

If you are putting on road fuel in off road equipment a tank and pump will pay for itself quickly

Bad for your wallet. Off road fuel you only pay sales tax, on road you pay sales and fed road tax. You will save $$ buy using off road. If you can not buy off road at a local cardlock then you would need a tank so you could buy from the local distributor 250- 300 gals at a time, and a pump to fill your equipment or a stand to put your tank on so you can gravity fill.

Doesn't take much off-road fuel to offset the cost of a pump and tank. Even buying off-road in 300-400 gallon will save you money instead of buying 75-100 gallons in a transfer tank.

Just out of curiosity, how long do u guys let fuel sit in a tank? AT work we go thru the fuel sot sometimes 1500 gallons only lasts a couple days max. Will you let it sit for months, if not using your equipment? Iknow this newer gas wont stay the winter in lawn mowers and anything, didnt know about fuel.

The fuel in some of my lesser used equipment is probably over a year old. I keep them topped off so water build up from condensation is kept to a minimum.
