What is the silliest thing you have ever said at work?
I know, I know that is one loaded question, but could be fun
The one example that springs to my mind for me is:
I used to do lots of flying for work, small float planes and helicopters. After a while you get to know the pilots pretty good. So,one day flying into a remote site to do some work on a gen set the pilot of the Jet Ranger and I were talking about our job and I remarked in jest that all he was is a glorified taxi driver ha ha ha.
He looked at me with a grin and then
OMG
The bottom fell out of the world... I didn't know that you could do that in a chopper.
After what seemed like an hour of negative and positive Gee's and a bunch of other things ( in reality I'm sure it was only a few seconds) he looked over at me and asked with a grim.
Care to back up that last remark, or should I keep going.
Great guy, lots of fun to fly with. He won that round

My supervisor's secretary got some new shoes and was showing them off when I walked in her office. They were real pointy and shiny patent leather. So of course the girls asked how I liked them and the first thing that popped in my head was "The last time I saw a pair of shoes like that they were sticking out from under a house".
The look on her face and the roar from the other girls is not something I'll soon forget lol!!!

How about
"Oh, that doesn't look too bad, I should have it fixed in about a hour or so"
Has that one ever come back to haunt me LOL.
If there is one thing I have learned in my years of pulling wrenches, don't say that one anymore

Mine was Dad Ive loaded that D5 almost as much as you have dont worry about it. Five minute later it an me were laying on our sides. When I was 21 I made an operator on a job but I often did other jobs mechanicing and learning other parts of the ground work. We had a young lady out there that was a college student working for credits on her degree. We were lining up a pipe line and using a prism. The girl was a looker but kinda ditsy. She couldnt hold the prism straight or still. Our super came and got me off the loader to help during lunch.
We got our stakes down and pinned and I was headed back to the loader. Fred said that girl wasnt much good on for anything onsite. I looked at him and said " She might not be but she sure is purdy to look at Fred. "
I wasnt a great dozer operator at the time and was caught up and I asked the foreman if I could help the grader man out till we had some more rouging dozer work. I was doing good at first keeping up with the hubs and uncovering them. I was one of the young ones. The grader man asked me about what I thought about it. I told him I dont see what the big deal is about this job. He put it in another gear and like to have killed me.
One time at the landfill our main compactor was down and we bought a 518 skidder to put out wheels on to compact while we were down . After the first day 1st gear went out. Dad was convinced that it was a blocked filter. I pulled filter off and found some metal and draind the transmission. THe plug came out and had 2 inches of shavings and some teeth were piled ontop of it. Dad asked me if I found anything out. I slid out and told dad as I handed him a handfull of shavings "Yeah first Gear"
