Perkins T 3544 engine in Hyster H180 need info
A customer of mine has a Hyster H180H forklift with a hay squeeze attachment. It has air brakes.
The previous owner transplanted what I believe to be a Perkins T6 3544 engine into it. The engine has an air compressor for the brakes mounted at mid point of the engine, it is driven from a shaft that runs back from the timing cover. This shaft I think also drives the fuel injection pump which is vertically mounted.
The problem he has is the coupler (Love Joy type) breaks or strips the key on the out put shaft from the engine. The shaft is now badly damaged.
I need some info on replacing this shaft and where parts might be available. Also what type of coupler was factory installed to drive the air compressor.
The shaft is machined for a woodruff key, but now the shaft has a bit of a taper from spinning inside the coupler.
Any info on what type of machine this engine might have came out of would be interesting as well. The air compressor looks factory as it sits on a casted base that allows the lube oil to return to the oil pan through it.
Thanks,
Pete
