Hough H60-D

Have this Hough H 60-D----- don't have a book yet.
Any of you folks have one????
Have a few questions.
What kind of oil for the tranny???? Is it different than what is used in the hyd's????

What is the lever on the right of steering wheel that is hooked to the foot pedal??
Where are the hyd. filters????
It has 3 forward speeds 1---2----3 there is a lockout bolt to keep from going into 3rd. Can override with the lever , but it doesn't seem to move in that gear. Any suggestions on this.

Any other tips you can give me.

Any hy-tran oil will work in the trany. Origanaly it was dextron i think. AW 32 in the hyd. your fillters are in the hyd tank. Not sure about that lever. Make sure the shift valve/spool is reaching full travel with the shift linkage. You should hear a detent "click" when the spool hits 3rd gear

Thanks for the info. I will check that detent. If third is out does that have anything to do with first and second??? Seems to have good power in 1st. and 2nd.

I am new to loaders and don't know how they work as to the gearing. I would think that 1st. or 2nd. would get the most use AND THAT 3RD. WOULD NOT GET MUCH USE UNLESS FOR ROADING.

I don't think any Hy-tran oil will be best at all. I had one of these Hough 60 (B)'s and I found it problem-matic until I used 10w in both Trans & Hydr.
What I suggest you do is phone or call into a Oil company's distribution centre and ask them to give you their recommendations.
Or... what I use often for different machines I have, is go to the Valvoline web site and go through the lists and although it may take some time, its worth it.
I'll put the link but you may find you'll need to find the model you have. Its a great site but I guess all the oil companies will have the same sort of site.

Our oil dist recomends hytran for these old clark tranys. It's compatable with 10w. What kind of trouble did you have?

Hi guy's, I'm new here and will probably be a life long member......... I am looking at purchase a Hough H60-D and I though this would be a good place to start... Hey Lenray if you get a book on your H60D could you let me know where you found it, I'd also like to have one. I'm about 99% sure I'm going to buy it, though I was wondering what a you guys thought a fair price would be for a machine of this caliber? It runs and drives good though it leaks fluid from just about every possible part that uses fluids and has no brakes (which i don't really need since it stops when you decelerate. The machine is supposed to have rebuilt hydraulics and a rebuilt cummins inline 6.

Also I will need forks to accomplish its primary jobs and was wondering if anyone here would have advice on where I might find a set, I would need at least a 6 foot fork? Thanks in advance and if anyone here would like to communicate via phone that would also be great.

Any and all information about this payloader would very very much appreciated. Thanks guys

Just my 2 cents here, but I'd keep looking - I just bought an old Trojan loader, I looked at 6 or 8 of them before picking this one. There are lots of them for sale out there, with "everything leaking" as you said, no brakes, etc. I'm glad I was patient and didn't buy the first one I looked at.

I have beeen registered for some time but due to many irons in the fire I haven't had the chance to meet any of you. Unfortunately in this posting I can only verify what is "Uncommonly Common" I was looking for information from someone on how to back my brakes off on the from of my H60 Payloader (standard frame) but I have noticed a pattern here reguarding 3rd gear. I noticed someone mentioned a stop but doesn't anyone else find it uncommon for so many H60 that only have 1-2-3 gears have 3rd gear that is out. I just bought my H60 this spring but the 3rd gear is supposed to be out of it too. I only know it has a version of a hydrostatic shift (I would call it for lack of a proper term) and 3rd is supposed to be out. I cannot find any manuals that I can afford or I find reasonable I guess. This is the first Hough I have had anything to do with (I have worked mostly on all CAT, Deere or Timberjack machines), but I would like to hear if anyone else finds this strange. I also really need to know how to back my brakes off as for no reason one day they started dragging. I have worked on a lot of equipment with air over hyd. but I have no idea where to adjust the front brakes or where the air release is to see if it is completely releasing. If anyone can help let me know, please. I can help you out with a place to get parts for Hough loaders they are a Kamatu dealer that supports Hough and aren't seeming to be too well versed but they get an A+ for effort from me and can get parts. Good to hear from you. My dau. SILAW and 3 grands live in Wisc.
If i put the loader down and lift the front wheels off the ground then it will turn the tires in----3rd.---- forward and reverse.
With the tires on the ground and the weight of the machine and in 3 rd. the loader will not move.

Been told that 1st. and 2nd. are independent from ---3rd.--- and they will work even if 3rd. doesn't.

I can't imagine that 3rd. would have beeen used much, BUT it is out on mine.

I have taken the front bucket off and am in the process of installing a snow plow. Will the straight frame old Hough have enough power to push snow????????????????????

Yeah, lenray. You don’t need to worry about its power my, *Friend in Hough*. I can lock my H60 in and out of 4 wheel drive but locked into 4 wheel drive my Cummins 378C (which a fellow I know that is a diesel Techn ‘Mechanic’ tweeked to the top on the DYNO) can dig down and muscle anything around I have filled my 2 ¼ yard bucket with yet. She even had to do the belly crawl a few times but the old girl ”Just like my wife” the tougher it gets the more she bellers ! Heck, In 2 wheel drive I passed ‘Harleys’ when we were moving machines on the hiway!!!!! They were pulled over to the shoulder but . . . I guess I went too far, huh?

Seriously, I am very happy with it. I have had it since spring and used it a lot. I have hauled a lot of sand, rock and dug out a ton of stumps and have been more than happy with it, I have to say much better than I expected. Then I, for one time in my life, was in the right place at the right time. I needed one tire -17.5 X 25’s- so I was calling around and just happened to catch a man who had just won (sealed bids) 8 new (had been mounted but still had the molding flash not worn off) tires that had came off some military equipment I think they went to radials. I asked him what he had to have for 1 and he told me if I bought 4 he could let me have them for $200.00 each, cash money. I didn’t need that good a tires but for that price I couldn’t turn it down and they were 16 plys and my old ones were only 12‘s. Shoot I paid $80.00 more per tire for the 4 rear dually tires on my F-Super Duty I bought last fall. Now I am kind of like the old sayings.” All dressed up and no place to go.” Until I can figure out why my front brakes are slightly dragging. They are dragging enough to not make it worthwhile to use it until I get it remedied, I don‘t want to cause more problems. I don’t have any manuals so I am having a hard time locating the problem. Any ideas?

i'm the proud new owner of a Hough H 60 D, belive it or not but all 3 speed work, but ofcourse i do need some parts, especially a bucket, if you have some parts or a complete machine that you want to get rid of, please let me know

Helloo Ryan I installed a 10 ft. snow blade on my Hough--I may not ever use the bucket--not sure. Have been looking for a book for the machine. There are H60B----H60E MAYBE H60C ,BUT I never see a booklet for the H60 D----Do you thinnk maybe the D just stands for Diesel????????????
Inside in you cab on the right hand side near the heater is there a panel with a Push-Pull knob and a gauge etc???????????

ya if you dont want or need that bucket let me know, someone fabed a bucket to fit..... lets just say they didn't do a good job, and i figure rather than trying to fix the cobble job it be easyier to find the right bucket, dont buy a book yet, i ran into the same problem you have and i just bought one off of yesterdays tractors, i crossed my fingers and went with my serial #,
MANUAL HO H-60 4WD Dsl Front End Loader (29AC-1003 & Up) - Operators Manual (Part No: HO-O-H-60), my serials H60-D 29AC1085, let me get my book and see if its correct, no sence both of us blowing $40.00, as far as the the pannel and push pull i'm not sure, i just got it home sunday and dropped it off at my dads since my welder died but will get back over there this weekend and will check it out.

What engine do you have???? Mine has the Cummins straight 6 diesel.
