Case 450 need a little info.

Installing a rebuilt engine in a 450 Case.Think I got timing right.Camshaft gear dot and fuel pump gear dot aligned with pointer on idler gear.Lines inside little cover on pump aligned and flywheel mark at 8 degrees for pump.No manual on machine so I'm playing it by ear.Need some input on Valves too.Since this is first Case engine better to ask questions now than goof up.
    Thanks.

Assuming the engine is a 207, you have all info correct Bill, some engines are timed a 8 degrees & most at TDC. Pump part # A136239 is 8 deg & A154542 is TDC.
The early 450's are timed at 8 Deg as per my old spec book & anything after that are TDC ( is engine original?) - , however my 450 service manual says TDC - go figure.............
The part numbers is all I have to go by - hope this helps
    tappets are .012" & .014"

I fixed 188 eng back in jan that had fuel pump removed i align the timing mark up like the manual said but it wouldnt run come to find out when i spun the eng over the timing mark wouldnt line back up spun it over again they lined back up so i spun it over to the mark came up on the crank& cam like it suppose to & remove fuel pump gear & line the marks up it ran then The story is that the marks on the crank & cam &fuel pump can be lined up on your pump can be off. this was the first one i had it to happen to me one this eng.The valve adjustment is 0.014 cold & timing is 8*btc.

You probably had the crankshaft off by 360 degrees 1080 bobcat. You see, the crankshaft turns two revolutions to the injection pump turning one revolution. You could have your crankshaft mark on the spot, but it's not TDC of compression stroke. Instead, it's TDC of exhaust stroke. In most cases, one should always verify that piston #1 is on TDC of compression stroke before installing an injection pump, all the dots should be in proper orientation at that point.

Atco what you said is rigth but i check that this thing would start out mark aglin up on comppresion tdc spin it over to comppresion tdc & fuel pump mark would be of about 5 teeth spin back to comppresion tdc & every thing would line back up so i moved it when it was in that off postion it then ran. What get me it act like one thoses rotary pump on dt466 every thing can be line up but the timing can be off.
