It's getting retired soon, could be already. Dorman's timber has been using it in and around Harrison/Chehalis.
A couple trucks that hauled off a pole job I was on last year doing the skidding with an excavator.

Here in the Lake States (WI and UP/ Northern LP of MI particularly) for whatever reason self loading trucks have been the rule for as long as I have been alive. There are some loaderless trucks (almost always semi trailer type), but they are in the minority. Typically the only loaders on a job are either on a slasher or a forwarder, neither of which is well-suited for loading trucks, or has the time to do it. The majority of wood is cut into 8' (100" actually) lengths. The most common setup is straight truck + pup, though semi trailers with mid-mounted loaders can be found as well. I'm having trouble attaching pics, but the following links show some typical Michigan setups- because of MI's weight laws, set back front axles and 11 axles on the truck/trailer combo is the norm as it allows ~164k gvw if I recall correctly.

Welcome to the Forum Sir! After 5 or so posts, log out then back in and you should be able to post pictures. I am looking forward to what you can teach us about your neck of the woods. Thanks!
