    diesel plate compactors

A necessary but self-destructing tool, what are some of the makes that everyone is using? We use Wacker DPU6055's, and other than for belts, worn out sheaves and the odd clutch they seem to hold up pretty good.

I have a Mikasa 304 that I bought used. It has held up OK but we don't use it much. It's gas powered so it's not exactly apples to apples. IMO I think the Wacker is a better compactor. It seems as though the Mikasa takes more passes to get the job done, and it is more top heavy so it's harder to keep the edges from digging in if everything isn't perfectly flat.
