The best way ive found to do it is the way NASCAR does it. I use two long true bars and put them on each side of the piece of equip. im checking , then measure and set the bars parrallel to the frame rails, then measure off the bars. This method works on every type of equipment. Will even show bent frames. Then all u need is the manufactures specs for that piece.

We use the ATTACC plus method to pre-check the alignment and to make the adjustments. In the video they show checking the thrust using the string method. We made a metal bar that fits against the front drive rim with a laser mounted to it and made a set of targets that hang on the front wheel.

I now have a picture of the laser/bar and target we use. I also made a copy of the attacc plus sheet we use. This is of course all measured on a level shop floor after the truck has been driven straight foward at least three truck lengths. A measurement from the front spring to the inside rim flage on each side should be made to make sure the truck is square before making the rest of the measurements. We wil make all corrections that are possible without sending it for a three axle alignment to keep cost down.
