Most haz-mat companies only look at your license and what experience you have had in safe driving habits. If your history search from previous employers shows the new employer that you have been accident free and a safety conscious driver then you will be hireable.
Some explosive haulers will require you to go to special handling classes for them. Safety driving experience goes a long way with most all employers whether it's haz-mat or non haz-mat

Sorry to say that the company you are employed with should be holding annual Systems Awareness Training for all employees including drivers of their haz-mat products. This is annual training for all haz-mat companies.

Unfortunately, it's not just an employer that could potentially want to know how much YOU know concerning HAZ. Any number of DOT folks or scale types can and sometimes will ask you pertinent questions during an inspection of your rig, particularly if you are placarded for a HAZ load. Safety man is correct, your company not only should be training you fairly consistantly on HAZ, but must in fact do training according to the regs.
OK, little off track there. Here are some places you might look at;
http://www.hazmatschool.com/
http://www.dgtraining.com/
http://www.phmsa.dot.gov/hazmat/library/erg
http://www.lion.com/Catalog/Online_FunctionSpecific.asp
You can also just search for, "on line hazmat training materials."
Good Luck.

surfer-joe has good info on this subject also. Make sure that you do ask your haz-mat employer what haz-mat training classes will they provide and when is the next one. If it is a long way off or they tell you they will send you to a independent class then take advanage of this as they will foot the bill. If you get nowhere with them, remind them that the FMCSR Haz-Mat regs require them to provide the training annually. If you still get to a dead end then surfer-joe has some great sites to go and keep up on additional Haz-Mat training on your own. If you get stopped for an inspection you may be asked when was the last time your employer has provided haz-mat training to you. If they do not provide the annual training as required, do not be afraid to tell the officer that you have inquired about continued update and refresher training and the company will not provide it. The enforcement division will contact them on what they are required to do annually, and probably not be to nice about it. The continuing haz-mat training is for your benifit to be safe and protect the general public from and effects on a accident or spill. You need to be right up on the MSDS for the products you haul as they will give you valuable information on what to do from exposure to the haz-mat products, safety precautions and clean-up of spillage.
