    Battery CCA?

You will have alot better cold cranking performance if you use 2 6-volt batteries in pararell with say 500CCA. You wont draw them down as fast and you will have more reserve power with 2 batteries.

    Diesel Fuel ?

Use some Power Service Bio-Kleen followed by Power Service Clear Diesel fuel stabilizer/cleaner. That will clean your system up and after about 2 to 3 tanks of fresh fuel, change your fuel filters and treat it once more and everything should be clean.

    Dresser equipment

Dressta is now its own company again. Komatsu dropped them last year when sales were down and couldnt affordto keep that line going. Dressta still makes equipment over in Poland and up in Canada.

the 8.1 is junk, breaks pistons all the time. If i had to say a gas motor it would be the Ford 300-6 for sure.

    Perkins Engine

Perkins was never a real good engine, I'd rip it out and stuf a 3.9 Cummins in it and end all the problems. I work on Cat stuff and Cummins has it all over cat in the small engine department.

20,000 lb. behind a pickup safe?

I have a 2011 F-350 and I tow my D-4 on my gooseneck with no problems at all. I wouldn't want to try it on a hitch but with it on top of the frame it steers and brakes just fine. And that new 6.7 Powerstroke walks over anything else in the towing department. I put about 3,000 lbs on the tounge...

    Nh 575e backhoe

The NH 575 is just a rebadged Ford. Its a great backhoe, probly really the best on the market imo. I work on Cats and most other equipment for a living and NH/Ford makes great stuff. You cant really damage the x-hoe, just keep it greased really good and the slides will last forever. a 12 foot...

    Cat

it would be a great motor to learn on, but you can buy a Reman cheaper than you can rebuild it. what i would do is tear it down, reassemble it then send it to the scrap yard.i wouldnt sink alot of money into it because its really a throw-away motor like the 3208's. another thought is if you want...

    Grease

I use Amalie Pro-Tac Plus or Amalie Elixer Super. Both really good grease and cheaper than the Cat stuff. Pro-Tac is a direct replacement of the Cat 5% Moly grease and Elixer is a replacemet for Cat's Semi-Syn .

there was two giants that went under from The Big Dig, Modern Continental and Roads 2000. It was a shame they went under, real giants in the construction field.

    Snowplows for pickups, Opinions Wanted

Up here in New Hampshire we mostly run Blizzard and Boss, Fisher has mostly died off due to slow hydraulics and lack of future tech improvements. Ford is deff the truck to plow with too, i had GM's and Dodges, and Ford always took the weight on the front the best even with the big 11' Blizzard...

    backhoe or loader for snow?

I would go loader myself. Up here in NH we get alot of snow so we have a good idea whats going on. I work at a Cat dealer and we tend to rent more small loaders for the winter use than the hoes. The hoes are ok but pound for pound a loader is better I think. In the summer alot of landscapers...

New DEERE vs old CAT ?? please HELP

Cat makes an ok grader, they have alot of transmissions issues though on the older machines. Deere, Volvo, and Champion are the best on the market right now for graders. The new Cats are really good but only after '98 when they closed the plant in the UK and started making them over here again...

Caterpillar Trying to Improve Skid-Steer, Backhoe, etc Competitiveness

Most of Cat's stuff already isn't made in the USA. Rubber tired stuff and small dozers come from Europe and tracked stuff comes from Japan. Mitsubishi has a big role in the Cat excavator production. They design and build the machine and Cat-Michigan powers it. About the only thing that is US...

Ford in Fords not IH 2011

At work we have 7 05-07 F-350 6.0's and not a trouble with them. The 05 has 279,680 on it and all it does is pick up and deliver anything from a Cat skidsteer to a D4 and the 5spd Torque-Shift is by far better than any other transmission out there. Ford should of taken the Cat C7 I-6 that was...

    Antifreeze?

The green stuff protects just fine, I've got equipment with multi-thousands of hours on them with green in them. Acid based a/f lets rust and corrosion form then it attacks it, thats why GM Dex-Cool anr Cat-Cool turns to mud in an iron block. Green puts a layer of slime on metal and stops the...
