    Bubble in the butt

I have an operator on my crew right now that used to run 8s with GPS. Now he's on a new D8T without it, and he can't carry a grade other than a roller coaster to save his life.

    Cat? Deere? Komatsu?

I've been running a D6K for the last couple weeks. Good balance(machine does have a winch), so-so power, but very nice to finish with. Almost everything is adjustable in the monitor from hystat reaction rates, blade speed, etc. Also got to spend a couple weeks on a new D51 Komatsu this year...

    PC 300-8 Opinions

This is where you'll get thh fanboys coming out of the woodwork. I'd really look at dealer support. I work for a Komatsu dealer. But I will tell you that I don't think you would go wrong with either machine, even though the the Deere is a Deertachi.

    Komatsu D65-16 at Bauma 2010

Nothing is wrong with them. High drive just means more parts to buy to replace an undercarriage. ;) Nothing has come through to the dealers in the US about this machine as of yet. Not sure when they plan on launching it here.

Deere 550H LT vs Komatsu D37EX-21

I have a thousand or so hours on a 700H for a local contractor I used to work for. Right around 5500 the drive pumps and motors went. About 1400 hours after that a final went. Another local contractor that I deal with on a daily basis now gets rid of their 650 Deere's as soon as they hit 4000...

Deere 550H LT vs Komatsu D37EX-21

You can get parts readily for either machine. Once you hit 5000 hours on the Deere expect to drop some cash in some repairs....Before you Deere guys get on me for my last comment, that is just my experience in my area.

    Vacuworxs pipe lifter

The pipeline school was pretty good. I've been to two of them. Never had a Vacuworx pipe lifter at either one. Did get to run a self-propelled chipper. That was different.

    pipeline construction resume's needed

All I've heard at my shop is how much the gas industry is going to blow up here in 2010 and beyond. We shall see. It will require NY to get it's head out of it's posterior.

    Fleet Down Size

I work for a Komatsu dealer up here in New York. Equipment values are way down. We aren't making very much on any deals.

    Pipeline Thread

I've heard the same things. All of the gas guys have said next year and the next couple years will be HUGE in PA. Especially up north in the Marcellus.
