Gawd help me... We are considering getting a log truck

Sweet lookin' Pete there Scott! There are going to be nay-sayers no matter what, but I think as a timber producer, you should at least have the option to ship a couple loads with your own truck every day. Trucks seem to be getting harder harder to find these days, weather your wanting logs...

Logging video; ThunderBird TY-90 & Boman Carriage!

I saw that video in 09 at the Oregon Logging Confrence. Boman had it going at their booth along side a new carriage they had sitting there. I was standing there watching it, and one of the Boman guys said the Ax Men filmers were making their job quite difficult that day.

Are we approaching a crisis with Yarders?

Me and a buddy of mine were talking about the same thing one day earier this winter. In North Idaho it's mostly tractor ground. All that has pretty much been logged over for the 2nd or 3rd time. Hauling a Cat 390....

I think it depends on how wide the track pads are. I don't know what ours are, but on an 8'6", it lacks about a half inch on either side to do that. We have hauled it short distances with them slid out, using the outriggers. Washington State considers it a reduceable load though, since it takes...

Gottcha. If you work for who I think you do, you might know my old friend Todd Osborn. He run shovel for them for a few years, but moved back to Sandpoint about a year ago. I met Todd 10 or 12 years ago when we worked together. Have another good friend that was down that way a couple years back...

    Three-stick W900?

CHP knows that some of those trucks can't, or won't pay the fine. They have drivers with no licence, or Green Card, can't speak English, the list goes on and one. And in the great Rebublic of California, the driver would find some Johnny Cochran wanna-be lawyer and file a harrasment suit, or...

    Hauling a Cat 390....

When we move or 385,s ;one is B the other a C, and we have moved them all over the western United States with the exception of California. Anyway we pull the boom, stick and bucket off as well as the counterweight. The counter weight and stick go on one 3 axle step deck pulled by a 4 axle...

    Three-stick W900?

Had a guy show up a couple years back to move a haul truck for me. After loading, I noticed his stupid ape-hanger shifter. He swore up and down it made it easier to "feel the gears" Not sure at the time why I took the pics, but now I'm glad I did!

Climber, From what I remember Denny saying that day we were having beverages, that it was all Talkie Tooter controlled. He said he thinks he still has the wiring schematic somewhere. I also heard a story from another guy that worked in the rigging for Ernie back in the 70's. They had an old...

Berger Manufacturing- Logging Equipment Built in Seattle

If Erine's shop is next to the hospital in Forks, then yes that big set of drums is still there. I was working in Port Angeles last summer and took a trip out that way to do some window logging. There was also a couple 245's in various states of dis-array setting around there. I pulled into the...
