    i think the D7 if its half ok mite earn you a few $ also much safer on hilly ground than a backhoe .. having said that a backhoe can be good for building trenches pipelines etc & of course a backhoe is easier to transport .. is the D7 a cable or hydrolic blade ?

    yep i second that parts are easy to get ive a 1942 HD7..just giving the machine a once over before putting it to use,all the parts we needed down to a thermostat gasket were only a phone call away..for a later HD6 parts would be even easier to get

    just bought a AC HD7

    finally got the old girl home a coupl of days ago..she was a little heavier than we expected(pushing 9 ton with blade/winch etc)unfortunatly on the day the largest truck i could hire could only hold 5 ton ..we ended up bending the tray & popping some spot welds...needless to say we spent a few...

    i forgot to take pics :~ best way i can describe the old girl is has a hydrolic resevoir at rear of motor,then the pump front side of motor.with the hoses going to the rear to the steering clutches..the petrol tank is up towards the front of the motor .. still has the twin exhaust stacks...

    cool so those numbers mean something? (were the only numbers i could easily find without using wirebrush or sandpaper to make sense of the engine numbers or something).. dozer reskinned? .. .. it has a logging winch & a smaller winch for the blade connected via chain the owner says when used...

    also in victoria ..sydney road/hume highway Cambellfield one of the warehouses has some old Cat d8-9s? & allis chalmers HD21s.parked out front ..fitted with pipelaying attachments..have been there for a few years not in use ...but im sure i could find some good use for them !

    that was top number on the compliance plate ..the dozer actually seemed in reasonable condition..except the old cable blade & winch is about stuffed
