    Watching the eclipse--welding lenses

Yeah, but so is HEF. :) Thanks though. That was an interesting read. I just experimented with 2 x10 vs 10+5. Using a really bright flashlight shining from behind, a 10 plus a 5 looks pretty similar to a 12 by itself. Might be a bit darker. Two 10s together, and I couldn't even see the...

    Safety BS

I don't disagree, but I worry about being involved in somebody else's accident. Do you think a lawyer isn't going to try and convince the jury that a machine with a safety system intentionally disabled doesn't equate to a disregard for safety in general, which equates to owning at least part...

    Watching the eclipse--welding lenses

Here at home it's not going to be total, just about 97%. Where my kids are going to be it'll be better than 3 minutes of totality. I'd like them to be able to experience it, safely of course. I don't plan on watching it for an extended period, so I'm comfortable taking an occasional peek with a...

    Watching the eclipse--welding lenses

Ok, I searched the internet a little bit, and the consensus seems to be that a shade 14 lens is ideal, and you don't want to use lighter than a shade 12, which is ok for limited viewing. I have a couple of 2" X 4.3" shade 12 lenses, and they'll fit into cutting goggles, but I have a handful of...

    1982 CASE 580D hose replacement

Her's a picture of mine, bought at the Case dealer. It's 1/2" drive. I didn't have one the first time I had to change one of those hoses, but I bought this one the second time I had to change one. Shimmy, I'm glad to hear you say that. I had a couple of different 680Gs, and I changed a...

Why do some skid steers "reach high" but others don't "reach high"?

Search the forums for "radial lift", and "vertical lift". In a nutshell, radial lift buckets travel along an arc while raising and lowering, and vertical lift buckets move more in a straight up and down path.

Welcome to Heavy Equipment Forums, asv. I've edited the thread title, and moved the thread here to the CTL section, assuming the make and model from your other two threads posted earlier. I'll close those so that all replies can be here in one place. As Dave says, the more background...
